9th Circuit Again

If we have to count on the supreme court to protect out 2A rights, we are so screwed!

If cert is sought and granted, the only hope is for Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Thomas, Alito and Barrett to be in lock step agreement. If any one of them peels off, Roberts, the most dithering Chief Justice in our lifetime, will be more concerned about optics than the Constitution.

In regards to the 2A, it’s bizarre how many states are moving toward the people’s right to carry while a handful are doing everything they can to extinguish it.

It is bizarre...it highlights the enormous regional differences between social attitudes and cultures in our country.

What really astonishes me is that the anti-gun people never, ever want to discuss the fact that in rural communities with very high rates of gun ownership, there is very little violent crime. We need to hammer that point home in every single debate about this subject.

I live in a small town about 20 miles north of Baltimore, which is one of the most violent and lawless cities in the country. Yet, in my town, where many citizens are hunters and sportsmen and gun owners, there hasn't been a homicide in nine years -- and that was a stabbing.

It's impossible to make the case for gun control, and we need to emphasize our side of this debate every single time it comes up.

Reposting the link. The first dissent begins on page 128. Start there.

"The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms.”U.S. Const. amend. II (emphasis added). Today, a majority ofour court has decided that the Second Amendment does not mean what it says. Instead, the majority holds that while the Second Amendment may guarantee the right to keep a firearm for self-defense within one’s home, it provides no right whatsoever to bear—i.e., to —that same firearm for self-defense in any other place."
If i'm reading this right they are saying if someone breaks into my home and tries to hurt me or my family I can defend my family, but if this happens on the street or at the park I can't defend them?

The 9th Circuit Court

There is a count somewhere that states how many decisions have been overturned from the 9th circuit court by the full panel and I'ts a bunch.

We can HOPE for that !

Are there any other Constitutional rights that are only valid within the home? Could free speech or freedom of religion also be declared by modern day judges to only apply within the home? What do the people do when judges cease being reasonable?

All of our Constitutional Rights have limitations. Yes, even Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion are subject to severe limitations - except in the privacy of your own home. It is the job of an educated and involved electorate to ensure those limitations remain "reasonable". But as with anything else that relies on a majority vote, democracy can be messy.

Red states expanding gun rights overall, the others taking away. Clear as day.

Let’s all take a deep breath...

Three days worth of opinions wont change anything. Contacting your legislators and supporting the NRA may.

Donations to the NRA ILS and PVF are your best hope at this point.

We’ll have plenty to deal with in the near future. A decision from the 9th Circuit is small potatoes...

Thing that gets me is that the 9th circuit is WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, ID and MT. AZ and especially MT and WY have absolutely nothing in common with the rest of the left coast and its ideology. AZ, MT and WY could care less how many guns your carrying, what kind they are and no paper work needed. WA, OR and CA won't even acknowledge any of the other states in the 9th districts permits. NV is kind if in a limbo.
In other words this particular decision has everything to do with the WA, OR and CA and totally ignores the rest of the district.

They are saying if by the grace and benevolence of your state legislature you are allowed to carry a gun outside your home, sure, you can defend them with the gun. Otherwise, if your wise state legislature decides law abiding citizens are too dangerous to bear arms outside their home, well, those citizens can use pointy sticks.

So, we don't have the right to protect ourselves outside our home, and law enforcement is not required by law to respond to a 911 call, so, what? We are on our own?
