I was. And I am left handed, which makes finding holsters for out of print guns SO much easier. ;) Well, now it IS easy.

A few years back, I mentioned in a thread here, the problem I was having finding a secure holster for my CS45. None of my 3rd Gen 45 holsters worked with the CS45. Because of the short frame and dustcover/trigger guard shape.

A few days later I recieved a PM from a fine gentleman named Gordon. He wanted my mailing address because he had a CS45 holster for me that he thought would solve my issues. When it arrived I was stunned. Maybe the finest holster I had owned up till that time. Quality on a par with my Ken Null leather. Beautiful design and quality construction. I have used it now for 3 years, wearing it many days per week. And it still looks and functions as new. A comfortable and secure IWB holster for an out of print gun - at an unbelievably reasonable price.

A few weeks ago, I Emailed Gordon. As an instructor at the local range, wearing a 4563TSW and 4566, most days, I needed a comfortable holster that allowed a fast presentation. I also had need of quick access while seated in a vehicle. I liked the S.I.S. style holster - except for the thumb break. It is a vertical speed scabbard style holster based on a Nelson design.

My personal policy on weapons retention is that they may get my pistol - but they get the bullets first. ;) So I wanted an open top with no retention straps. And I wanted a fitted leather holster. No Kydex, for me. I like metal framed, hammer fired guns. And I carry them in leather holsters. Nuff said.

Gordon had me phone him and listened to what I needed. Then he sketched a design for me to view. PERFECT! He made me EXACTLY what I wanted. And then he made me two other fine holsters. One for a 1911 range toy and a "Rhodesian" 4566 holster he though I could use if concealment was needed. All 3 holsters were in my hands within a few weeks. Unbelievably fast service! Only exceeded by the quality of the holsters. Beautifully made. Fine leather and stitching. And reasonable pricing. Really priced too low for what you get, IMO.

I have been wearing the holsters while working at the range and while on duty at the Magistrates Office. The "S.I.S." works great. Better than I had imagined. Comfortable to wear and easy access to either my 4566 OR my rail free 4563TSW. IT FITS BOTH PISTOLS!! PERFECTLY!! How did he do that??!!??

And the Rhodesian, what can I say? I wished I had it when I was working in Investigations. It pulls the 4566s grip into the body. Makes the 4566 disappear under a Golf shirt. In retrospect, I should have listened to Gordons suggestion and just gotten two of the Rhodesians. One for my 4506-1. So I could wear it comfortably and conceal it under a T-shirt. ;)

Bang Bang Gun Leather. Contact Gordon at [email protected] Don't waste time and money on finding and buying lesser holsters on Fleabay. Get what you want.....no, get MORE than what you want, here. 18DAI approved! Pics attached of my 3 holsters. And NO, they are not for sale, from me. But Gordon will hook you up with your own. Thanks again Gordon! I appreciate you!

He also makes holsters for 3rd gen 9mms and 40s. And for other pistols too. Try him. You WILL NOT be disappointed. Regards 18DAI

"Rhodesian" is on the left in the pic. "S.I.S. Custom" on the right. Great holsters!

No, no website.......yet. ;) Regards 18DAI

He makes great stuff..... I've got four holsters he's made for me.... dating back to 2014/15.

Dunno about "commercial". He was kind enough to make me mine. Great as they are, he SHOULD! :)

I'm just passing on info for those who are in the same boat as me. Looking for a good holster for an out of print pistol. Regards 18DAI

Tell me more about the Rhodesian although that SIS looks good also. It's hard to tell how they will wear on the belt when they are laying on a table...

Okay, can I admit some ignorance here?

"SIS" is what?

And what is a Rhodesian holster?

I have friends in Rhodesia but it's Zimbabwe now donchano so I'm really curious about that holster and that name. ;)

Funny thing, I have been trying really hard to find a holster for my CS-9. I finally got Kirkpatrick Leather to make me one, it's IWB, gorgeous leather, but it's your classic SOFT holster, meaning reholstering is NOT going to happen once the gun is drawn.

He does great work. Now that he's "out" I can mention the beautiful 3913TSW (rail) IWB holster he made for me when he was first starting out making holsters. I'll have to get a holster, but it's a beauty. I'd have to guess that as he's got more experience, his products have gotten better.

Now. let's keep this "secret" so that he doesn't get overwhelmed with orders. ;)

S.I.S. is the Special Investigations Section of the LAPD. Tasked with taking down violent felons, while maintaining an undercover role. The current holster they use is a vertical scabbard design made by C Rusty Sherrick. It has a thumb break.

The S.I.S. inspired design Gordon made for me, works better, for me. :)

Thad Rybka made the original Rhodesian holster. He designed it as a light weight minimalist holster with a channel boned in for the front sight. It is said his inspiration for the holster was a Chic Gaylord minimalist design. Nelson later marketed a similar model to Rybka's, also known as a Rhodesian. Supposedly because the first ones Rybka made, in 1979, went to armed professionals fighting in Rhodesia. Gordons version is a fine holster for concealed carry of Commander size combat pistols.

I will try to get some pictures of the holsters mounted on a gunbelt, tomorrow, so you fellas can see where they sit on the waist. Regards 18DAI

Busy weekend, but as promised, here is a pic of the S.I.S. and the Rhodesian, on a gunbelt so you can see how they "sit".

Glad to help squidsix! I think you will be pleased. I know I am! :) Regards 18DAI

Here is my "rail" 3913TSW in a holster made by Gordon. This was an early effort, but the quality shows through. He originally made it with closed loops, but subsequently sent me a set with snap loops.

18, good info, good leather has always been a rough find for us lefties. I had another Gordon (Davis) make me a few( for 5906 P/Cs) after getting the wife some when she worked fugitive squad in the mid 90s,and later detectives, same stuff some SIS guys were using in those days. His son was making some later but I think they are gone now. All had to have thumb snaps, per dept regs at the time.
Does that SIS rig your showing have some rear cant or is it straight up. I wish I could find a leather holster with a bit of rear cant , dont need the full 13 degree, but like a bit. Take care Bob
Added a couple photos, her set up with B/U gun, at that time all revolvers had to have an exposed hammer, no bobbed hammers or rubber tips, so the 649 hammer was the best option, no sharp edges, and didnt hang on clothes as easily as regular hammers and was alot sturdier. Unless you had a 49/649.

Hi CALREB. The "S.I.S." I had made is a vertical, no cant, with cut away front.

But Gordon is very talented and a great guy to work with. I'm pretty sure if you Email him, he will be able to do one with a cant on it for you.

He made mine off a conversation about what I needed. VERY talented guy! Best regards, 18DAI

That there is your gun now. A better home I could not have hoped for. May it serve you very well!

Let me thank you again for selling it to me!!!!!!!!

The 6915 is a "Goldilocks" concealed carry gun ... not to big, not to small....just right!!!!!!!! And it's also a great looking two tone...made even coooler by your High Power like stepped slide.

A 6915 is a great blend of two good guns.....little more sight radius and muzzle velocity; single side safety with a short butt but still 12+1 rounds. Spare 15rd mags with the S&W +2 adopter.

I still daily carry my 3913s around my "Burb of the Burgh" but when I travel "far" from home the 6915 goes with me........
