Ole Joe Clark
Absent Comrade
What a gorgeous Sabbath Day in Dixie, and I hope it is where you are. I saw a photo of fresh snow somewhere way out West, not sure where. My tomato plants would not like that, and neither would I.
One day a couple of weeks ago, my best friend, Johnnie, (his Mom wanted a girl) and I went to the range. He followed me in his vehicle after I unlocked the gate. When I reached the top of the hill, I saw turkeys in the grass field to my left. A gobbler and hen were doing what critters do this time of year. I thought that mating season for turkeys was over in our area, but obviously it's not.
A few minutes later as we were setting up, we heard coyotes barking. They had to be really close for us to hear them, as we both are about deaf.
Johnnie had a new Glock 43x in 9mm that he hadn't shot yet, and I got to try it out. The trigger sure felt strange, at least to me.
I shot some 9mm, but more .22LR's, in my Ruger Mk II's and my old Marlin rifle. You would think I'd have trigger control figured out by now, but my best 7 shot, 25 yard group still measured 7/16".
Much room for improvement. The wind was blowing about 10 mph, so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Keep us in prayer this next week, doctor's appointments and lab work all but one day. At least I have a jam scheduled for Thursday night.
Take care my friends, and have a blessed day,
Leon
