Some of y'all remember my family lost our land. I'm going to update y'all on that.
Back in the early 20s. My family got in a bind and nearly lost the land. I gave up on my schooling to help. I sold my structure settlement to pay off the property under the condition I got a acker to build my own house on. Thats how I go that little cabin. That cabin was the worst mistake I have ever made. It was also one hell of a learning experience.
Fast forward a few years. My parents got behind on their back taxes. I had no idea until about two years ago when I finally got the money up to divide the land. this is one of the reasons why I drug my feet on finishing up my house. A few years ago they got a firm to pay off the taxes. But my parents had to pay them back the money. Back in 2017 the property tax sky rocketed on my family making it nearly impossible to pay off.
So according to my parents they were going to go to court to appeal it. But the county court house shut down because of covid-19. this was back in November of 2020. I was in quarantine during that. I was not told any of this was going down. I could had helped. After the court date was canceled. The tax firm rescheduled in Dallas during the winter storm without telling us. It wasn't until late July we found out we lost the land. The county was not happy with all this going on behind everyone's back. Including the judge.
I'm not happy because how much money I dumped on my cabin. At the time I figured I would move into it and pay off the taxes for my family later. I had no idea it was that bad. I found out I could had easily payed it off. What gives me the creeps is how much legal mumbo-jumbo can go on behind your back with no one knowing. All this was going on with out the judge, clerk or us knowing. We had a case against them to fight. But the bullet train is going to render our land worthless. And the old house is a mold infested mess. We let it go. The tax firm gave us a favor. To be truthful. I don't believe this story is 100% true. But it does not mater anymore.
My mother lost her job because of the virus. So I have been helping them with money since spring. I thrived regardless of that. Y'all might remember my threads about my 390 and transmissions. But I had to carry the burden on not only replacing my dead S10, but also a new meter poll and three RVs for my family to live in. I did it. I pulled off one hell of a feat. It broke me though. This happen weeks ago but I just got internet back on. I started off buying my siblings a camper first. Than I bought my parents one. Then my 1966 C30 found me. I was not looking to buy. I was still trying to fix my S10 at the time. My C30 popped up at the last minute. Then I found my Fifth Wheel camper mere days before the deadline to leave. I used my C30 to pull it to my grandparents property that we are living at now.
This is a huge blessing though. The old house was a leaking, moldy mess we were talking about bulldozing. My cabin was holding me back big time. I got to the point to where I hated that cabin. That bullet train was cutting right behind the land. So we would had to deal with every 30 minutes every day.
The land was one of the reasons I was holding out. But I can always find land somewhere else I guess. My parents admitted that they were going to let me have it all once the taxes are paid off. Something I feared would happen because my Dad mismanaged the property BAD. I just wanted a small part of it. Not all of the land. Not my problem anymore. I found black mold growing in my room behind my posters. Mold started growing on my ceiling after we found out we had to move. It was turning black in some places when I moved out. Mold was getting out of hand.
My health improved and I am much happier in my RV. My 66 C30 is awesome and a blessing. My camper is a 1998 Keystone Sprinter 5th wheel. My C30 pulls it with no problems. My roof does need some work and so does other parts. My camper was being remodeled before I bought it. I had to buy a new micro-wave and fridge. The floors are brand new. But uncovered. All carpet is pulled out. So is the furniture and table. But I'm happier with it then I was with the old cabin. I can do what ever I want with it. Its a blank slate. I have my TV, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and my coffee table. I bought a chair to sit on. So I'm happy.
My trailer still has its gas burning oven. But I'm getting my pipes looked at before I get propane. My plumbing was said to be good before I bought it. But I have not hooked up my camper to water yet. I have not checked my tanks yet. My carpenter already agreed to help look at it. But otherwise this camper is 100% functional.
My plans is to fix up this camper to how I want it. I don't plan to move out of it anytime soon. I'm not married and I have no kids. So I can live in it and go anywhere I want. Which is awesome. Most law enforcement and security training facilities are about 2 or 3 hours away from where I originally lived. I can simply pull my camper to where I choose to train. Or even work. I am no longer tied down.
On my 1966 C30. It does need work before I start pulling my camper to far. Like I said on another thread. My 350 is leaking oil. But not that bad. But I'm not tolerating it. Like the engine, my transmission is not original. Its a GM Muncie SM465. I want to get it looked at later. I do want to upgrade the brakes. It stops like a fright train. I'm going to fix it up and paint it.
Now, I managed to keep my 1968 Torino GT. But there is a interesting conundrum. I can still fix up my car. In fact. I have almost everything to finish the drive train. Just need the valve train for the 427. I was about to get the final work done on the engine when I found out I had to move. My grandparents let me store it all on their property. That was a massive blessing. I worked hard for all that. But the car still needs brakes and electrical before its functional.
The conundrum is that I can't drive that car and my truck/camper at the same time everywhere I go. I can store it or simply drive it where ever I'm going after I move. Just another puzzle I have to work out later I guess. I'm not willing to let it go. Especially since I don't have to.
But I need my C30 100% functional 100% of the time for my camper. My Torino is not needed for that. My Torino Can't pull my trailer. It doesn't have a wench on it either.
I already made more than one thread on my C30. But someone asked for pictures. I tried to post them here. But the site isn't letting me upload them. Th truck is serving me very well so far
I need to recover first before I can do anything. All this hurt me money wise.
