Ok, so I thought I was being smart and went ahead and ordered 3 15 round SA-35 magazines from Springfield Armory. I figured that once the guns get into circulation extra mags might get a bit tight for a while. I know that Mec-Gar is showing them out of stock as well as several other on-line dealers. Beside, I can use them in my other Hi-Powers until I can find a SA-35. ;)
I ordered on Friday Oct. 29. SA got them shipped that same evening. They arrived at the Fed Ex distribution center in Olive Branch, MS at around midnight on Saturday Oct 30. Scheduled delivery for Monday Nov.1. BTW: Olive Branch is right across the state line from Memphis and this distribution center is the main hub for Fed EX ground deliveries everywhere in the Memphis area.

Monday comes and no package. I check tracking again and now it says "Scheduled Delivery: Pending".  Ok, I'm generally a pretty patient guy, so I give it a couple more days. No package and no change in the status. Wednesday, I decided I might aughta check on this and decided to get in touch with Fed EX. I call the customer service number and get a computer. I input all the info asked for and simply get that it is in the system with delivery pending. Hell! I knew that already.  Ok, time to speak to a real person. Guess what? The is no phone number for Fed Ex that lets you directly contact a human being. There is no national number, no number for the Olive Branch center or for that matter, not even a number for the local stores.
Ok, so there's a Fed Ex store less than a mile from my house. I knew they probably couldn't do anything, but I hoped they could at least give me a number to call and speak to a human being. So I went there. Nope, all they have is the regular customer service number. But I did find out that if you want to speak to a person what you have to do is call the number, when the computer answers just keep repeating "representative" over and over until it finally connects you to an actual person.

So I go back home and make the call. I say representative, representative, representative over and over and finally! A real human being answers!  I get the expected BS. Over whelmed, short handed, yadda, yadda, yadda. I ask when can I expect my package? Well it turns out that SA shipped by Fed Ex Ground Economy class. I don't fault SA, they're just trying to watch their budget and I did get free shipping on my order. But it turns out that that class of shipping has no guaranteed  delivery date. Simply put, it gets delivered when Fed Ex gets around to it.
Welp, they've had it 6 days now and ain't got around to it yet. And it looks like all I can do is wait until they do.

Can't you throw a rock from Bartlett to FedEx's main national shipping terminal at Memphis International?

Fedex from Florida. Pistol won off GunBroker Monday night. Paid and sent FFL info Tuesday, shipped Wednesday, in my hands Friday at noon . . .

This was shipped Fed Ex Ground which uses a completely separate hub. And No, it was not going to be handed off to USPS.

FedEx Ground is delivered by a bunch of private contractors in old white panel vans from specious sources. And I didn’t say anything about handing off to USPS, but thanks for adding that to the discussion. . .

Had the same thing happen a couple weeks ago with FedEx... two days to Phoenix, and another 5 days for the final 80 miles to my house.

I've had issues with FedEx, UPS and USPS lately. Seems like they're all in the same boat.

Thankfully there's nothing in that package that I need anytime soon. I can wait. But its just damned annoying.

It was far less annoying before every package became trackable.

You would order it

You would wait

It would arrive

Smiles all around.

These days we’ve added in equal parts of “make up some guesses about when”, mix in either bad data or blatant fraudulent lies about where it is (I see you there Postal! ;)) and then mix in a whole lot of end recipient click click clicking to try and “big brother” the whole journey and here is where we’ve landed.

In the end, the same thing happens now as it did 20 years ago. For a nominal fee (seriously), something gets all across this great Nation (or sometimes across the planet) and arrives at your door like you are flippin’ ROYALTY and the magic is lost on the consumer who has been conditioned to want it now, right now, absolutely right now, now.

USPS took more than two days to move a rifle from their Las Vegas center to the one in North Las Vegas this week. It's all of 12 miles between the two.

Just had an adventure with a UPS shipment with a handoff to the PO.
UPS tracking said handed off.
PO said awaiting delivery. For a week!
Finally got it.
From UPS!
Apparently the PO never got it!

Hopefully it won't be like my recent FedEx experience. At first I had an expected delivery date but when that day arrived and no package the delivery date was changed to pending. About 10 days later Amazon notified me that the package was "probably lost" and refunded my money.

Here' another tidbit I've learned about Fedex. Twice in the last few months I've had packages delivered to me that were meant for someone else. Both times I called Fedex to come pick them up for re-delivery. They never did. The first time, the package was small, so I dropped it off at the local Fedex office. The second time the package was large and heavy. When Fedex didn't respond (again), I wasn't about to lug it back to them. So I called the shipper, and they told me to keep the package, and they'd send another to the purchaser. Apparently Fedex finds it to be more cost effective to pay for a second delivery of another package than to pick up and properly deliver the original package.

Thus, if you get a mis-delivered package from Fedex, call the shipper, they'll send another package to the buyer, and you'll likely have a free gift. In my case, I now have a heavy, sturdy cat stand and some cat food from Chewy.com. I do not have a cat, so I'll donate it to a local cat rescue organization. BTW, I had a great experience with Chewy.com's customer service chat line. The representative answered promptly, was quite knowledgeable, and was clearly an animal lover, not just a bot. Amazing!

Shipping of all sorts of things is messed up. The various carriers were not set up for the huge increase in home shopping as we got hit with the pandemic. (If the "Spanish Flu" experience holds true, we have about 8 months left of real contagion.) USPS here has been using rental vans and making Sunday deliveries for almost a year now. I am sure that the cost of rental and extra-help employees is hurting all of them.

Our experiences with USPS/FedEx/UPS has been decent around here. If we need faster delivery and pay for it, we get it. Most of the stuff we get is drop shipped to our PO Box as we cannot have stuff delivered to the house very easily. The portions of the back area of our PO that can be seen when at the counter are jammed with stuff.

All the carriers are in a state of collapse IMO. The thing that most grinds my gears is the continual excuses. If you know you have problems take steps to fix the problem don't whine about it for years.
