Yes, they are pushing it and it sounds like a decent idea if those numbers are true but I DO NOT need another caliber at this stage.
If I was starting out I would probably try it if ammo was available and affordable. The availability of it would concern me for a while.
It's a unique approach to keep up with the high cap competition.
Instead of changing the mag or gun, make a new caliber.

I think this will be the deciding factor.

Even if it's available. If it's 20 cents more a round, it will put people off who are perfectly happy with 9mm.

They need to release a Shield plus in 45 if they can get a couple more rounds in that too somehow. That will sell. The Shield and 2.0 Shields in 45 sold pretty well. Don't wanna dis the old faithful :D

That makes a little more sense. The original guns still had less capacity than the 9mm competition.

I am saving my money to buy one now. I have to handle a gun before I buy usually. Since I already own a 9mmEZ. I am ready to buy as soon as I find one in a Gun Shop.

Well, I really hope THIS is not the shape of things to come.

Probably not quite that high. OR, it's dead before it's born.

I know this is really preliminary at this point and prices could change drastically, but THIS is 45 acp prices.

I've been seeing an advertised 50,000 psi chamber pressure for this new cartridge. That gentlemen... is a LOT of pressure. I would envision that being likely to produce a lot of flash/blast/concussion, and accelerated wear on the firearm. All of that just to squeeze a couple of additional rounds into a firearm that already has decent capacity, while falling a bit short of 9mm performance, costing more than 9mm, having similar recoil to 9mm, and being approximately the same overall length as a 9mm which means it won't work in the micro guns currently chambered in .380 ACP? No thanks.

I'm sure it will make for a fine cartridge for some people, but it isn't for me. I might buy one if Smith made a unique pistol specifically for it that couldn't be had in 9mm or .380. Otherwise, I will stick to those older, more established cartridges.

50k psi doesn't bother me greatly with modern metallurgy. The flash and bang, maybe.

The muzzle blast might not be as bad as you fear. The pressure in cartridges with small case capacity falls rapidly as the bullet moves down the bore. Standard pressure 9mm and 357 magnum both have SAAMI limits of 35,000 PSI but the 357 is far louder. Its the pressure when the bullet leaves the barrel that matters, not the peak pressure when the bullet is still in the barrel.

So far the in reviews of the new cartridge the people shooting it agree that it feels like a 9mm in terms of recoil and none have them have mentioned excessive muzzle blast. But I haven't seen any critical reviews, they have all been from YouTubers and writers that have never met a gun they didn't like. But even they would have mentioned the muzzle blast if it was at 327 Federal/357 Magnum/357 Sig levels.

My guess is 30 Super is going to be little louder than 9mm but not enough louder to really matter. Still waiting for some more objective reviews that aren't at the Federal factory or media range day at the SHOT show to prove me right or wrong though.
