What is your Go to War Sidearm?

the service 1911 rattles. this is so nothing will jam the gun and prevent firing. since all us old guys will have better things to do than clean guns (i.e. naps), something that needs minimum attention and directs projectiles in the direction the thing is pointed is paramount. Save your match grand nail drivers for the victory parade.

Civilian irregulars wouldn't be bound by The Hauge Accords

As I recall from my annual "Law of Land Warfare" briefing, civilians who rise "en mass" to resist invasion are accorded the same rights and responsibilities as regular military.

Geoff
Who doubts that has changed, and I note this clause is regularly ignored.

"In war, that which is simple works."
"The Americans do so well at war, because all war is chaos and the Americans practice chaos on a daily basis."
Therefore, I will honor the choices of those with experience and use my Glock 19 in a M-12 pistol holster, with four backup magazines in protective carriers. SEAL teams, for all their PR, made an excellent choice.

Who notes weight is always a factor.

If our next war is a civil war, I think mean tweets ands memes have the greatest effect on the enemy.

HK45. Larry Vickers and the HK design team got it right. Over 30,000 rounds without a significant failure in a torture test. If it goes bang literally every time, that’s the sidearm for me. Great accuracy too.

It took me awhile to get through the 7 pages but I wanted to read all the posts. While a big fan of the 1911, I would have to go with my CZ75B SP01. If for some reason couldn’t get to CZ it would be 5 inch PPQ.

Baxter6551, I just ordered an SP01, though I'm a Glock 17/19 fan. What do you like about the SP01, particularly over the 1911? Thanks

To answer Giants1 question above none of my 1911s have a light rail and I have come to like that feature. Magazine capacity is twice that of a 1911. Both my CZ75B stainless & SP01 were done over by CZ Custom and are totally reliable and accurate. The weight on SP01 mitigates recoil and follow up shots are very quick. Fitted both with stainless guide rods. Both guns fit my average size hands very well and I’m very comfortable shooting it. I have a new set of Lok grips on the SP01 the palm swell grenade texture boogie grips they are awesome. But the factory rubber grips as shown on the 75B are the best and I have tried a lot of other grips. The SP01 also has texture “checkering” areas molded in on the front and back strap where the 75B does not.

The answer is quite simple for me, my trusty Smith & Wesson 686-1 4 inch. Why?

Because it is what I have and what I know. I know that there are better tools for War, but this is what I have. I truly hope it never has to come to that point. I hate violence, hate the idea of having to take the life of another, and hope from the bottom of my heart I can live a life in peace without ever having to use my firearm for those purposes. We should all pray that this remains a hypothetical.

I'd go "George Patton". Colt stainless series 80 on the left and 681 on the right. It's what George would have carried had they been available.
Back up in DEEP ;) concealment would by my NAA .22 mini revolver-since I don't know where to get cyanide capsules to hide in my hollow tooth in case I get caught

Ammunition availability would be very important to me. If .45acp was available or was 9mm all there is. War means more than a box or two of ammo and resupply is critical..............

SA. 1911 Loaded with back up S&W PC Shield. 45.
However my first draw for protection is my S&W Search & Rescue Knife with 16" blade.

I'd be pretty happy with my daily carry as a wartime sidearm actually.....
