I just picked one of these up for $187 otd with 3 mags and dim night sights. Local PD is slowly trading out and as officers don't want to purchase theirs, this local store gets them. W/o any initial cleaning I fired 50 rounds with no problems. Measured trigger pull was 6lb even. Not bad just different than the Walther and Glocks I'm used to.

I stripped the slide completely cleaning the gunk out and polished the safety plunger. I haven't dug into the lower yet but will.

What are the recommendations for triggers on these? Most of my other guns fall in the 3.5-4.5lb range and a nice crisp snap. It does not say 2.0 on it so I would assume the first gen.

Yep, a 1.0. You can also tell by the grip texture, the round S&W logo on the grip and the beavertail in addition to the lack of the 2.0 on the slide.

Has the Small backstrap on it, tool in bottom. I'm going to order the Medium and Large. I'm thinking Large will be what I need but that'll give the complete set

Let me guess, you got it at one of those LE/military only discount stores. As a regular guy those places chap my butt.

Nope it's a gun store anyone can buy at. They do sell Blue label but have plenty of other stuff for anyone to buy.

I've got two I paid about that for. My daughter uses one for home protection and I occasionally shoot the other. I recently saw where a company was selling some Detroit marked M&P 40's in the three -three twenty range. I haven't had any problems with the ones I got. Also 6 lb. triggers on both.

Any drop in triggers that improve or pieces that improve. The hinge Trigger is new to me

I was going to acquire one of these a while back when they were available. It sounded like a good deal. BUT, when you snooze you lose...I lost! If I remember correctly, I did not have a need for another gun (I don't know what I was on at the time!) I recently scratched the .40 caliber itch with a Glock 23-3. I hope you got a good, dependable gun with the S&W .40 cal.
Are the S&Ws pretty accurate? I would imagine they are. Somebody will be selling theirs off so I may jump next time one's available. Free hand at 25 yards, I could only hit the torso target twice out of 18 shots. 15 yards and that paper doesn't stand a chance with me!

Don't really have much love for them, but if I'd seen one at 187 it'd have come home with me. Great score.

I bought one from Aim Surplus a couple years ago, it was a non issue unit and I know why. It had the most God awful trigger, it had so much grit in it, was almost like turning a 1/4" ratchet. And I love my Smiths.

I put an Apex forward sear trigger in it. They weren't lying, almost as good as a 1911 worked trigger. with the light trigger until I got used to it you would sometimes double tap it. 1.5lb trigger pull. Follow up shots with it usually are within a 2" group. After the muzzle flips and drops the next shot was in just the right place. One of my favorite range pistols.

If you are willing, would you please share the place you acquired your M&P 40?
Thanks.
