Blackhawk in 41 Magnum

Be careful, the Ruger's are on a slippery slope. I like the .41 caliber as well, although mine are old models.

The first one is a Bowen .41 Mag built on a .357 frame with a 4" barrel, scalloped recoil shield, lanyard pin and Fishpaw grips.

Second is a '68 model that I added the brass grip frame and stags.

The last is a '67 model with Belhert front and rear sights w a Poly Choke rib.

My son-in-law steered me to my latest OM Ruger .41 Blackhawk (see attached). It joined a couple other OM Ruger .41 Blackhawks and S&W 657s.
For whatever reason, .41 mags have always been a slippery slope for yours truly. I even managed to pick up a JM Marlin when they made the limited run of CCL's.
Yes Sir, there's just something about anything in .41 mag!

I have a hard time resisting Old Model Ruger Blackhawks. I had been looking for one in .41 Magnum for a while and I found this Old Model .41 Magnum a few years back. I decided to get a Ruger Factory Letter for it since they are only $10. It lettered as a 4 5/8" gun. Hmmmm.....

I did a little digging and found out it was within the serial number range of a bunch of .41 Magnums from 1967 that accidentally received duplicate serial numbers. But.... they did not get the usual D for duplicate prefix added to the serial numbers and were shipped before the error was discovered.

I wrote back to Ruger and the nice ladies looked it up again and sent me a new letter for my gun and also photocopies of the day book showing where my duplicate gun was hand entered. It was one of those times that getting a factory letter was well worth it.

I love .41 Mags... have a couple of 57's and 657's, this is my .41 Mag Blackhawk. I fitted a Bisley hammer to the standard grip frame which I replaced with a stainless steel grip frame that I polished. The ejector rod was replaced with a Colt SSA style large head "bullseye"

I made the grips from figured Claro Walnut.

I would love to find a Marlin 1894 in .41 Mag to pair with it, but those are very difficult to find and demand a pretty penny. A Henry in .41 Mag is slightly more attainable, but not that common either.

My oldest and best friend became involved with about 30 guns due to a problem a friend's grandson was involved in. He only kept 4 and one was a Ruger .41. One of the reasons he kept it was because I reloaded .41's.

It is a beautiful gun and shoots very well.

Hello, tt66 the Blackhawk with a ribbed barrel is awesome!
I lucked out and found an om 4 5/8" unconverted with a four digit serial number 122x.
Love the 41 magnum!

I always wanted a Marlin .41 but the real ones have gone thru the roof.

I put this little carbine together last year and it is a lot of fun to shoot. And being a single shot, you don't burn through ammo.

T/C Contender with a MGM 18" Fluted .41 Mag barrel. 3.5x10 Leupold with Ill TMR Reticle. Wood is from Haus of Arms. Overall length is a little over 32". One of my favorite loads for it is a 265g Wide Nose Flat Point w gas check on top of a good bit of H110. The pic has it with a standard 210g for reference.

I have always liked the caliber and when I found the New Model I had to grab it. Now I'm going to look at an early NM 45 Convertible. We shall see.

I had both. The 41 was a nice gun, but the 45 convertible was my favorite. I could load 45 Colts up to near magnum status, but did most of my shooting with the 45 acp cylinder. With Bullseye and Unique powder I found it accurate and cheap to shoot.

Very nice pistola! One of my favorite 41 magnums. Yesterday I traded a 4 3/4 3 screw 357 for a custom Mauser!

tt66...that is a NICE rig...

When TC had a collectors association they offered a 16.5" .41 Magnum or .414 SuperMag as one of their yearly offerings. I went with the standard .41 Magnum as I figured if I couldn't kill it with that it was time to break out the .405 Winchester... Mine also has a Choate thumbhole stock and an extra 18" barrel in .22 Long Rifle.

As to the Marlin carbines...at one point I had all four offerings, S, FG, LTD and CCL. Sold off the FG as I just don't care for pistol grip stocks on leverguns...

Do the Ruger Letters tell where the gun was shipped to?
Larry

Yes they do. The Ruger letter is pretty neat, but they do not contain near as much information as a S&W letter.

The letters that I received last year told the month that the revolver was produced in one paragraph and then in another paragraph it told where it was shipped and what month that it was shipped.

Many years ago I hunted whitetails with a Ruger Blackhawk .41 cal. When I first got it I reloaded up a few different rounds and got it shooting accurately. I shot many rounds before the deer season that year and I was ready. I fired 2 shots and harvested 2 does. I had a good season that year and many more.

I highly recommend it. .45acp out of a Blackhawk is a lot of fun. Those stubby rounds practically load and unload themselves.

Mine is the Lipseys flat top.

Funny I'm not a single action guy or a 41 fan. But just minutes ago I looked at a very nice 41 Blackhawk on GB. It was like $450 with auction winding down……. I thought somebody might steal that one.
