Spent a few hours dicing up some slash this morning
Had my new (current production) model 63 along for the ride
It’s riding in an older smith holster that really belongs to my 4” 63 but that gun doesn’t go to work
How about sharing your working gun on this Labor Day weekend

No work, just leisure. 329 on my hip for our Shenandoah hikes and camping this weekend. I didn’t expect my 8 month pregnant wife to be the one so willing to keep hitting the trails, but she was. Very proud not gonna lie. Already taught our golden retriever puppy to love the water, now getting him used to some mountains. He loves it, but also loves eating sticks lol. My pitty rescue mutt loves the wilderness and absolutely hates water

You’ve got a lot to be proud of right there and also a lot to look forward to :)
Congratulations!
Ps I’m a big fan of the 329
One of the greatest trail guns of all time

I don't get out into the woods much anymore, but when I did, a High Standard Sentinel, 22 Long Rifle was my woods "bumming" gun. I don't have a picture of it in it's holster, an Uncle Mikes "Sidekick" I originally bought for a K-Frame Smith and Wesson many years ago, but the Sentinel fits it perfectly.

With it's aluminum frame, and steel barrel and cylinder, it weighs just a little over nothing, even with the Sidekick added. It holds 9 rounds of LR. An Uncle Mikes ammo pouch with a double handful of bulk pack Federals, an MTM walking stick and I was set to beat back any invading pine cones and such that came around. This particular gun is somewhat unusual in that it had fully adjustable sights, and wood grips. Most Sentinels had a drift adjustable rear sight only, and plastic grips.

I've got one of those Smith and Wesson holsters like the OP's also, except mine is tan. Model 21-34 IIRC. I've had it since I had my first handgun many years ago. I found it in a junk box of holsters at the gun store. I think I paid about $5.00 for it. The gun is long gone but the holster has been with me for forty years or so.

Edited to add: I forgot this wasn't the "other guns" forum. At least I got in a mention of Smith and Wesson holsters.

Here is my 5" Model 629 in the Croatan National Forest, a swampy area in eastern NC. It is a good sidekick in bear country. Of course, the black bears out this way are chill. Never a problem. This photo is from 2019 or 2020. Used a chest rig for the 629 or Glock Model 40 (10mm) in recent years.

Model 66 in the desert, southeast of Reno, Nevada. This was back in 2018. Hiking during the 2018 SWCA Symposium. Spent most of those evenings out in the desert.

I carry a revolver in suburban Charlotte, NC as well. Probably more likely to need it in Charlotte than out in the woods, swamp, or desert. But, it is always concealed / appendix carry. No pics.

Boondocking guns - always a favorite subject, though I never took photos. I tended toward stainless steel after it became popular, though we all used blued guns before then… in my case Models 34, 36, 17, and 19. I never liked anything heavier than a Model 19/66. Of those, the 4-inch 34 was the favorite and most used.

I had a .45 Commander customized by King’s that had a full hard chrome finish on everything, even the small parts. That one got the most use, I think. Also had one in .38 Super, but no hard chrome, so it got a lot less use. The .38 made a trip into a lake in Minnesota, owing to my inexperience with canoes, but it was in a holster that had a secure safety strap, so we both survived easily enough. :D When I was a lad, I was a proficient swimmer and was smart enough to get my shoes off and into the flooded canoe for the probably quarter-mile swim to nearest shore. The Commander got cleaned up with outboard fuel, as that was all that was available. It survived with no finish damage.

Over the years I tried all sorts of guns, including a stainless PPK .380 and a TPh in .22, a 6906 and later a 3913, Models 63, 651 and 66, a 422, and later, during the .32 days, a 4-inch 631 and a custom-built 4-inch 31 with adjustable sights.

The .32s were just about ideal, but of course you had to mind the brass and take the empties home. Brass was expensive and not easy to find. I usually took the .45 if I didn’t intend to shoot much, and one of the .22s if plinking was in the plans.

Your story about swimming with a gun brought back some old memories
I almost lost a standard model ruger, when I flipped my canoe in northern Maine haha
Tried for it that afternoon while I was already half frozen and fully wet
After things settled down over night, I was able to find it in on my first dive the next morning
It was October and quite chilly, thought long and hard about donating it to lost pond
It made up for it with a few partridge dinners later that week
Good times
