First, I would like to thank those forum members who chose to offer these exclusively to other members of this forum BEFORE putting them out to the public via auction houses/GB!

Second, if you are thinking about parting with one of your "treasures" I would like to encourage you to list your gun (of accessory) on this forum as a first option. I feel I paid full market value for each of these but avoided fees, premiums and sles tax by going through this fourm. The sellers avoided auction fees and a possibly lon wait on their side.

My 4 treaures found on this forum's classified section:

Registered magnum owned and carried by an FBI (later Counter Intelligence Corps) agent;

Engravde Combat Masterpiece (Pre 15), factory engraved in 1955, and on display in the factory showroom for 10 years as an example of Class A engraving;

NIB pre 27, 3.5", blue & nickel pinto, factory lettered;

Model 49 "Bodyguard", shipped to NASA in 1962, and agency marked with original security patrol badge.

Lastly, a special thanks to Lee Jarrett (Handejector), owner and operator of this forum for making this all possible. Donating to the forum helps keep this all going.

Let's hear about other happy forum transactions!

Thanks for that post Randy. I was here for years before I realized that the Forum is primarily funded by donations of the users. And a plug for the SWCA too, if you're a S&W fan and aren't a member, you're missing a lot. We'd love to see you at the Symposium in Tulsa in June.

Almost forgot, here's a 4 inch Model of 1950 Target 44 Special which came from a forum member via the Classifieds. It left the factory as a 6.5 inch, which was clearly stated by the seller, but is one of my favorite 44s anyway.

My favorite as well.

Was the barrel replaced or cut? I always prefer a properly modified gun for a rare model that I like. Usually cheaper to buy than a rare factory model I can't afford to buy. They become my favorite shooters with no worry about collector value.

I agree

Here are a few nice guns I have picked up here on this forum
A couple of 357 magnums and a triple lock...

As far as guns go, I've bought a few and sold a few. Honorable mention to a nice boot knife that has become one of my favorite knives.

Agree - best sales venue on line

I too lurked for years before joining 7 years ago and cannot begin to describe the remarkable help given by the members and admin folks on this forum. I've been able to sell so many Smith's, Colts, plus long guns, shotguns, and every transaction has been with honest and upright people.

What I really like is when you list something on this Forum, the Members will let you know almost instantly whether you have priced too high, no matter where you derived your price from. You just get no bids at all!. If you price honest and reasonable you get a sale...usually the same or next day.

Happy Seller...Happy Buyer...classic definition of "fair market value"

I agree with being a contributor also...whatever your contribution level is, it is still cheaper than fees at the big places where shill buyers and bad descriptions abound.

Some of the fine S&W's sold on this Forum

I picked up 2 from the forum…a 66-4 purchased through the classifieds and a 640-1 Pro though a ‘WTT’ listing…extremely pleased with both transactions and thrilled that I’ve found this safe harbor and family of “happy enablers”…

I agree 100%! I have purchased a couple of vintage revolvers here on the Forum (a 1954 (birthyear) 4" Highway Patrolman, and a 3-1/2" Model 27-2) and I have been extremely happy with the revolvers and the transactions! My son manages several local gun stores, so naturally a majority of my vintage revolver and modern firearm purchases are transacted through him, and at "Dad" prices! How could I turn that down? But anyway, from what I've read here on the Forum, there are a great many transactions taking place with both buyers and sellers being very happy. This is a great Forum, and the members are always willing to share their knowledge. Thank you!

I have picked up at least five head of my current herd from Forum members. There is a lot of good that can be said about the membership here. And thanks to our moderators for keeping the ranks clean.

Great thread, OP.

Count me among the many happy forum customers.

Many of the Chiefs in my stable came from forum members --
only one from a "for sale" ad, but that's a minor distinction.

Bottom line: the folks I've dealt with (buy, sell, or trade) have
been from the salt of the earth. Upstanding in every way.

Here's a small sample from the '50s: Chiefs s/n's 72 (thanks Tom),
99 (thanks Thom), 42829 (3", thanks Lee), 50865 (3", thanks Mike),
and 158956 (3" two-tone, thanks Tom).

I should have mentioned that my finest revolver came from a friend I met on this forum and he sponsored me to become a member of the SWCA. Although not purchased off of the Classified section of this forum.

Sal Raimondi.

RIP, my friend!

I had one of the short barrel versions for a while. i was going to shoot it head to head with my 3rd model single shot but someone talked me out of it before I got the chance.

It was not on the forum but an ATL show.

I’m quite impressed with what I see here.

Unfortunately when I was a young cop buying and selling guns, no internet existed so you had to go to Gun Shows and Auctions.
