British "humour"?

U.S. humour is more slapstick and in your face, whereas British is more nuanced or subtle. :)
I was watching a show last night about the 10th and final season of Doc Martin . One of the Directors said that it was hard to find writers for that style of comedy . Their style is more " wit " .

Clarkson's Farm

Not a motorhead, so had never heard of Jeremy Clarkson. The show on Netflix about him suddenly running a farm that he owned had some very good laughs.

You might find favor and a whole lot of enjoyment with Last_of_the_Summer_Wine that played on British tv for 37
years totaling 295 episodes. We bought them all in dvd format a few years ago and its about time to drag them
out and watch them all again.

I would describe it as the little rascals in senior citizen format.

My bride and I love British humor. This thread has brought back many great memories.

I do have to say that Hyacinth Bucket (most assuredly not pronounced the way it is spelled) was a force of nature. Patricia Routledge owned that role. What a talent.

In 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' Roland Atkinson was Father Gerald, who had never performed a wedding before and was petrified. It is one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen. I still don't how the cast got through it without cracking up. Last year I got licensed to perform weddings, because my granddaughter and her now husband wanted me to officiate at their wedding. I determined that I was not going to be Father Gerald. That was no problem. But I also had to discipline myself not to even think of that scene while performing the ceremony in front of 200 guests because this was a serious wedding and that was what was expected of me. So thinking about that scene could have been a hazard.

If our local PBS station would bring back any of these series, we would watch them again.
