I purchased this 64-3 at a gun show last year and it kinda got lost in the safe. I was rearranging some things and came across it and decided to clean her up a bit. The Serial # is 1D50085 and it has a hand engraved # on the side plate, barrel and cylinder AAF-14-0008-JCR-33615 P8. Not sure what that means other than some agency owned it for a while. If she could talk I’m sure her story would be a sad one, but she is loved now.

Unfortunately that number is most likely some departments case number - I suspect the gun was in evidence for some reason. Why different departments did this I have no idea.
Maybe someone else will recognize letter / number sequence and verify or correct.

The end result is a huge improvement. There should be a special place in Hell for people who took an electro pencil to a firearm.

While I agree my department required us to etch the number into the frame of a weapon seized in evidence. In most instances the weapons were destroyed by court order once the case was adjudicated.

Here is the first Glock 26 I owned. It was a former evidence gun. The remnants of the case number can be seen inside the circled area.
