Favorite Non-Smith 9mm Handgun

Another vote for the Beretta 92 series, an M9 in this case. Purchased new in 2011 with about 10k rounds down range.

But my only other 9mm non-Smith is a Glock 19. Eventually would liike to add a Hi Power and a Sig P226, either of which could become the new favorite.

Well, there are certainly lots of choices when selecting 9mm handguns! I only own a few, but I'll play along...

The first is a late WWII P-38 (Spreewerke) that I inherited from my father. He was in the USAAF and traded for it before being shipped home- the soldier he got it from had actually assembled it in the factory outside of Berlin with matching parts off the assembly line. My Dad found the P-08 holster for it before he came home.
The second picture shows a SIG P320X5 Legion that I use to compete in USPSA (Limited) and Action Steel, and a SIG P226 SAO Legion.
The third is my SIG MPX pistol that is now actually an SBR since I added a folding extendable stock.
And lastly, just for the heck of it, is my M&P PC Shield Plus...one of my EDCs.

Which is my favorite non-S&W pistol...the SIG P226 SAO Legion.

Can't say I have a favorite, all the ones I have I like! Luger, P-38, Browning Hi-Power are all fun, accurate and have an historical appeal as well. I guess the one I shoot the most is the Beretta 92, it just handles well (despite the thick grip), and functioning and accuracy have always been great! Besides, it was a gift from my son when he went in the service so it must be my favorite!

My only 9mm - 1944 Walther cyq P-38
Rough and reblued , Dad ordered it in 1961 from Klein's Sporting Goods.
The Mail Man brought the package to our house and gave it to the 12 year old boy , sitting on the steps (Me) ... No FFL , no dealer , waitnig period or back ground check ... Sweet !
I tried my best to talk him into getting a P-08 Luger ... but he was adamant that the Walther P-38 was a better pistol ... and , as usual , the old man was right ... that P-38 will feed , fire and eject any ammo I run through it ... 105 gr. HP's to 158 gr. cast SWC ... they all feed , fire and eject !
Thanks Dad .
Gary

I only own three 9 mm pistols. One is a plane jane Ruger EC9s that lives in my back pocket. Never had a hiccup. The other two here are Berettas, the 1951 model and the 92S, both Italian police (?) surplus that shoot very well. The 92 has basement guard duty. I had to get rid of the black plastic grips, all ugly and scratched up. In my hands the 92 is a very accurate gun, but too heavy for CCW. Sorry about ugly picture.

For a smooth shooting full-size 9mm, my Dan Wesson Specialist is hard to beat. On the other hand, I've had this Browning Hi-Power for over 40 years, and no pistol I've ever owned fits my hand better...except my Kahr K9, which fits me like it was custom built to my specs.

In retrospect, I realize these 3 great 9mms all have something else in common: they are all-steel guns.

Kinda partial to Sigs, my 239 and M11 fit my hand well. I have a G-word 43 that goes in my pocket most days. My all time favorite was a P-08 I had some time back. Fun to shoot but wouldn't ever EDC it.

I love HiPowers but never could get past the squishy feel of the safety....

My first full sized 9mm purchase was a new Taurus PT99AF. I have more rounds through that pistol than any pistol I own. I put over 10,000 rds through it in one year and it still looks like new. Excellent shooter and completely trouble free.
My other favorite 9mm would have to be the Hi-Power & it's copies. I've got a post war FN, 2 custom Novak Brownings and an FEG. I am lusting after the Springfield SA35.
The wood & steel Hi-Power truly has a soul & personality that plastic guns lack.
