There’s a lot to be said about using discretion, good choice to play it safe! I’m sure your nephew understands, and they’ll be time to celebrate later…
As for eyeballs, I had surgery to remove cataracts and install interlocutor lenses a couple of years ago. I’m relatively young for cataract surgery and they weren’t terrible, but they were also not going to get any better… My night vision was getting worse, and driving at night was not fun. Since the surgery, white things seem more white, but I miss seeing the pretty halos around lights. Every night used to be like Christmas time with ornate lights everywhere I looked, including oncoming headlights, but now no more of that.
My overall night vision is still not great however… I was told that the rods and cones that help gather light diminish with ages and there’s not much they can do about that issue.
Since they were already doing surgery on my eyes, I also elected to have inter ocular lenses put in so I could eliminate my need for glasses. That part was semi successful, as I have much better long distance sight, but now I need to wear glasses for reading and to sharpen up long distance. So I still wear progressive glasses, Not very happy about that, but overall pleased with improved mid and long distance sight. Don’t really “need” glasses, except for reading.
Growing older has it’s issues…
