A Request to All Posters

I guess that I should just dump them all into a lake.....

I have (like, shoot, enjoy)

41 Mag
38 Super
10ga
22WMR
9x18 Ultra
38-44

I think that I will go shoot some steel this afternoon to assuage my guilt for offending the caliber gods......

I came across a a set of 38 super reloading dies free to me that for some reason were the harder to get type. Gave them to a gun show table holder that gave me a great deal on some stag grips a couple months back.

He was tickled to get them as he shoots 38 super Colts a lot.

I think 38 super guys are plentiful out there.

When the .25 Winchester Super Short Magnum came out along with the new controlled round feed M70 rifle, I had to have one! After I got it I was happy with it, very light and soft recoiling with adequate accuracy but for some reason I sold it. I bet ammo is really hard to find and expensive now, but to me it's all about the ride, it's not where you end up. I've had well over a hundred guns and lots of weird calibers and it's about the experience of owning them, not about if one is better than another.

Why bother with a 5.7 x 28 when a 22 Mag is just as good.:D

Along the same lines any time a company comes out with a new carbine or lever action in 9mm,or 357, etc there are those that will "wait for the 10mm or 44 mag to come out"

Awww, come on , glenncal1, lighten up. :D When things get slow on here we can always have a caliber war or two. (just kidding)

I own a Smith in .356 TSW, oh the horror. But, it did also come with a standard 9mm barrel so perhaps I can at least claim partial redemption. Mea culpa.

There is a big difference between expressing an opinion and whizzing on the parade. Telling people they over paid, their caliber is worthless, their gun is junk or "a boat anchor" is flat impolite. Ya, it is an expressing an opinion, but in a needles unnecessarily heartless manner.

I prefer 45 colts over 44 mags:)

I think 44 mags just waste of gunpowder :(

As far as calibers go in reality we could get by just fire with 1/3 or less of what exist. But, variety is the spice of life and telling some guy his gun sucks isn't much different that telling him his wife is ugly. Just not done "Old Boy"

Yes and I quite enjoy conversations about the pros and cons of each. :D

Debate is a great way to learn and form an opinion. Just because I believe a decent load in 45 colt is the best Practical large handgun round, does not mean that the 357, 41 and 44 mags are junk. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and as long as they state it with a bit of courtesy it adds interest to a thread.

Be awfully boring if when a gun was posted, everyone just said great gun great caliber, perfect frame size and barrel length

The skin depth of various other forum members may vary. Not much anyone can do to change that

Yeah, well you are wrong!!!!! Don’t believe me? Ask Harry Callahan.

...There was just a post from someone showing their .10mm and we had to have the oblgatory "10mm can't do anything that .41 Magnum won't do better" post....

Fixed....those .41 Mag guys can be ornery too :D

I can sure see the OP's point, but bottom line...it's simply human nature to feel that whatever you happen have is the best and whatever the other poor slob has is sub-par. It doesn't matter if it's makes of pickup trucks (i.e. Ford vs. Dodge vs. Chevy) or brand of lawnmowers (Honda vs. John Deere vs. Toro) or handgun calibers, we all like to think we're smarter than the next guy and thereby make wiser choices.

It doesn't matter if our opinion has any validity or not, we like to think we're right. Thus, I'm afraid the caliber opinions are here to stay. I mean, after all, in 1953, Bella Twin, a 63-year old Cree woman, killed a grizzly with a .22 LR. So that must emphatically prove that the .22 LR is a viable bear cartridge. Right?:D:p
