I parked my Shield some time ago and carried something else for a while in the small shooter dept.

I thinned my herd and so Gen 1 SW Shield Nina is back for plain clothes carry.

Sometimes it hesitates going into battery the last few mm or I need to bump it into battery. It has not failed while firing.

I would like to install a new recoil spring.

I tried looking on the internet and came up empty.

anyone know the part number for the RSA for my Gen 1 9mm Shield?

I dont have a plus Shield.

Yes, call/email S&W CS and they should replace it for free.
Also, if you recall, the RSA needs to be sitting perfectly on its ledge for the slide to function properly. It's possible that it might keep the barrel from completely locking up.

FWIW... My 9mm Gen1 and 'Plus' RSAs look the same (or, at least, interchangeable).

when these guys first came out.... had to have one.

Got jacked on the price and ended up with Mass complaint gun that had a horrendous trigger press.

I had to spend more $$ for an Apex duty trigger kit.

My piece has ran 100% its entire life, but its a bi_ch sometimes to lock to the rear.

My RSA is squared up when I go back together with it.

I would be afraid to send this back just in case SW would remove the APEX parts.

How many rounds did you put through it before parking? When my Shield 1.0 was new, it did the same thing but only if I rode the slide forward. It would "hang up" just about where the locking lug on the barrel meets the locking block to push the barrel up into lock.

A nudge on the back worked. Also, if I don't ride the slide, pull back to release, then let 'er go, it's locks up with no issue. Also cycled fine when live firing. It took a few hundred rounds to work it out. It no longer behaves like that.

Still a spare RSA is a good thing to have. I have a few for most of my handguns.

Edit: Although OOS the part number is shown and matches the spare I have for mine.

ya know.... it might be me. Never thought of it the way you put it.

None of my other pistols act this way.

Still time to replace the RSA tho.

thanks for the info.

I called S&W last week and requested a spare for my PC Shield 2.0. They are sending one to me. If you call and request one, they will provide one!
