From the time I was a youngster, I have always had 11 first cousins. The oldest cousin was around 20 years older than I, and he died in 1999. That left me the fourth oldest of the 10 remaining living cousins, all of which are scattered around the country. I have seen none of them for many years but occasionally have spoken to most of them on the phone.

This weekend, I discovered that all of my three oldest first cousins have died since July 20, the last one being yesterday, leaving me as the senior cousin. All I can think about now is whether I will be the next to go.

Remember that none of us is promised tomorrow. Whatever day the LORD chooses to call any of us home is a day of rejoicing for us. Until then make what you will of each tomorrow.

As for me, every day I wake up in the morning is a disappointment!

It’s an easy response but the solution to this dilemma for ALL of us with a few more years than we’d like is to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. I need to get some of the legal beagle stuff done myself. :o

I’m sorry for the recent losses in your family but please try to set your unhappy thoughts aside and enjoy each day you are given.

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

My parents and all my siblings have had cancer, me included. Three of the five of us succumbed to it. That's some tough medicine to swallow.

I only have a third grade education but I don't think dying has anything to do with numerical sequence other than the more numbers you are the closer you are to death.
Just live every day likes its your last and one day you will be correct. :D Larry

I am the oldest of the 26 first cousins in my dad's family. We've lost two of them, both through natural causes. Enjoy your life each day and the time you have with your extended family.

I had 8 first cousins initially, but am down to five at age 69. My wife's cousins have had much higher attrition, as her dad was the youngest of 7 kids and she was a late in life 'whoops' baby.. :)

I had nine half brothers and sisters with me being second oldest one. There are counting me three left. It is what it is and I feel lucky still handing on.

You may be next , maybe not
We are all on our way at some point
Don’t be afraid of it ,welcome your reward
Personally I don’t want to die , but I know it’s coming so I just shrug it off and keep doing what I do .
Take my dog to the creek, enjoy the sun on my face or the shade of an old cottonwood
Maybe share a drink with a friend
Get up early on a day off and drink coffee outside as the sun comes up
Enjoy what you have been given
Life is a gift but it was never meant to be forever
