I bought my 1943 Ithaca 1911a1 in 2007. All original with High Standard barrel. (Not an arsenal rebuild). Shown in pictures are the original Keyes Fiber grips, and three WWII contract magazines-General Shaver (G), Little (L), Scovill (S) all marked on the toe. The grips on the pistol are NOS military as I didn’t want to damage originals when shooting it. I also replaced the recoil and firing pin springs. Of course I kept the originals. From the wear on the finish I assume it was carried during the war. I shoot it about once a year.

If you have one please post.

some of the original grips shrink if they are off the gun

Thanks I did not know that. They are bakelite material (a type of early plastic used in the 1930s and 1940s) hopefully that won’t happen. Perhaps I should leave them on the pistol and only replace if I take to the range?

Does that mean that I can't post a picture of a Singer?
I don't really have one, or any WW2 vintage for that matter. Mine are one WW short of qualifying. But my buddy does have a Singer. I was just wondering if this was an all inclusive thread, or if minorities were not invited? ;-)

1918 Colt 1911

Here's picture's of my Colt 1911, date's from April of 1918. My father picked it up from the DCM in the early 60's for the sum of $15.00 + $2.50 shipping and handling.

Singers are welcome. Only 500 made. Post it.

Here’s my 1943 Ithaca 1911A1. Shipped between July 1943 to Nov. 1943. All matching gun thought to be all original. Early transition from DuLite to Parkerizing. It’s my only 1911A1 but I do have a Remington UMC 1911. Shipped Sept 12,1918.

I have a WWII vintage 1911A1 that I just got from the CMP. It's from 1943 and has a Colt frame and Remington Rand slide. From what I remember it seemed to shoot pretty well for a mixmaster. Now that I have my eyes fixed I'll have to take it out again and see how I do.

Here's one from each war. The M1911 came through DCM sales in 1961 and is a Rock Island rebuild.

The M1911A1 is a Remington Rand fitted with a Colt slide and is an Augusta Arsenal rebuild. From Round 3 sales CMP, complete with a gaudy red rack number, likely applied by a diffident supply clerk long ago.

1943 Ithaca frame with Remington Rand slide and a S&W chrome lined replacement barrel that was purchased through the CMP. Went through 2 rebuilds and most likely spent time in the Desert Storm campaign with a Puerto Rico National Guard unit that was used for traffic control and prisoner guards.

1. CMP round 1. 1942 Colt frame with an Ithaca slide
2. CMP round 4. 1943 Colt frame with an Ithaca slide.
3. I believe this may be an Arms Room parts gun. Its a mix of WWI 1911 and later A1 parts. All original G.I. parts. 1914 Springfield Armory frame with a Colt slide.

The first one is a Remington Rand purchased by my Dad in 1966 for the princely sum of $45.00. It came with an M3 holster made by SEARS, not the retail chain.

The second one is from round 2 of the CMP sale, an Ithaca frame and RR slide.
