Ran through your "what's needed" list and except for the photos, I believe it's all here. Nice neighbor lady showed up yesterday and wanted me to see the revolver her dad had left her. Told me to go shoot it and even provided a box of cartridges (32Auto) which I found out is not the correct ammo. Here's my list:
# on yoke -- 2243
No model #
S/N 116776
Barrel- 32 Long CTG
3 1/4" barrel
Fixed sights
Strain screw? Yes
No butt swivel or lanyard ring
It's a 5-screw.

Really just need to know when it was born so I can relay the info to her. Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard!

Your neighbors .32 Hand Ejector probably shipped around 1910. Photos would be nice...

Equipped with an antique flip-phone is impossible. The chrome finish has a few blemishes that I just can't bring myself to attempt to correct but is (what I would call) a revolver 90% -- I'll let the neighbor lady know -- thanks.

32 Auto is not the correct cartridge, and you should always use the correct cartridge in any firearm. However, I have safely used 32 ACP in several 32 long revolvers over the years and have never had the slightest problem.
Roger on that -- will hit Bass Pro and get a box of longs (don't own any 32's it's a neighbors) -- thanks on the heads-up.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Does it look like this one?

.32 ACP will chamber and fire in .32 Long revolvers if that’s all you can find. It does operate at a higher chamber pressure than .32 Long, so not a good idea for extended use in older revolvers. Also could be enough of a rim thickness headspace problem that you may get occasional misfires if using .32 ACP. I have experienced that a few times.

I took this piece to my local Bass Pro and asked told them about it. Asked if it was safe to shoot -- they assured me it was safe. As the 32ACP will not be shot, asked about availability of 32 Long -- zero in stock. Also gave me a quote -- said they would give me $199 for it. I think I'm being shorted.

Your thoughts?

$199 is about half the value.

What happened in Knoxville last night?????

They call that disappointment. Wonder why the new guy thinks his playbook is better than Saben's?

Noticed your Eagles fell as well :)

I saw one on Gunbroker for $599 so guess I was given their WAG (wild a guess).

.32 S&W cartridges will work also. But even less available than .32 S&W Long ammunition. Nothing dangerous about using .32 ACP if .32 Long is unavailable. At least for use against paper targets and beer cans or just to make noise. I have fired lots of .32 ACP in my .32 revolvers without incident except for occasional failures to fire due to headspace. $199 is a ridiculous offer.

Phil Sharpe’s classic late 1930s book on handloading makes a statement to the effect that use of .32 ACP in .32 Long revolvers is OK.
