Bucheimer and Bucheimer-Clark holster fit charts - 1953-1975 & later

I was looking for a concealer for a Model 65 3 inch barrel when I saw this one advertised as for k frame "2-2 1/2" or similar. I took a chance and ordered it because it looks long enough for the 3". It's marked C-1. I've got a C-15 that's made for a 2" k frame. Anyone know what a C-1 is made for?

First appearance I have of the Concealer from J.M. Bucheimer is their 1976 catalogue. For reasons only SG688 w/b able to explain, the -1 is not listed (the 'C' is for Concealer; the Bucheimer people were out of their minds when they developed their numbering systems (plural)).

C-1

Red posted while I was typing.... Nope, I can't explain it either.

C-1 would appear to be another example of Bucheimer's impish sense of humor, or the holster may be mis-marked.

I think it's safe to conclude that the cylinder pocket in your pictured holster is not made for a 2-shot derringer.

From the master list cobbled together from multiple sources:

1 = Derringer
1 = HS Hi Standard Derringer
1 = GER Derringer, German
15 = .25 Automatics, Standard Frame Size
15 = S&W Chief Special 2"

Bucheimer & B-C Concealer holster – 1970's catalog list.
C – prefix added to usual Bucheimer 2 digit code.

edit 12-24: 1980's codes dropped the C prefix.

No C-1 but we have C-15 now.

C11 = S&W Chief, 2"
C12 = S&W M&P, 2"
C13 = S&W Chief, 3"
C14 = S&WMDL 10, 4"
C15 = 15 = S&W M&P 2" "New Model" HB
C34 = S&W Mdl. 15, 4"
C52 = S&W MDL. 19, 2½"
C52RU = Ruger Security Six 2 ¾"
C53 = S&W MDL. 19, 4"
C53RU = Ruger Security Six 4"
C78 = S&W MDL. 59
C79 = S&W MDL. 39
C42 = Colt Det., 2"
C43 = Colt Dt., 3"
C22 = Colt Diamondback, 2½"
C23 = Colt Diamondback, 4"
C54 = Colt O.P. MK Ill, 4"
C62 = Colt Python, 2½"
C64 = Colt Python, S&W 586 4"
C74 = Colt Commander
C75 = Colt Gov't.
C77 = Walther PPKS
C80 = Browning Hi Power
C81 = Sig Sauer 220 Series

83 = Beretta 84 .380
85 = Beretta 70 .32/.380
86 = Beretta 92 9 mm
95 = Walther P5
96 = Sig P6, 225
97 = H&K P7

01-604-16 FBI 3 inch model 13
New: F suffix for 1 inch belt loop only on 1-604-16

Thank you for the replies. I've read all the compiled Bucheimer info on this forum through undoubtedly many hours of research. If you two can't crack the C-1 code, nobody can. I will let you know if it fits the S&W Model 65-2 3 inch.

I've got another Concealer, BC-14RU, not on the list. Seems to be identical to my C-14s except heavier/thicker leather. It's black as indicated by the "B". Fits my 4" Service Six, Model 10 & 64 bull barrels.

The holster arrived today and shows absolutely no signs of use. Maybe that's because the owner couldn't figure out what it fits. I tried the 3" Model 65 and the barrel stuck out about 1/2" or less. The gun didn't sit deep enough to snap it. The mold seemed to fit the k frame and it seems to be for a 2 1/2" barrel. I tried the Pre Model 10 which sat deep enough to snap but the barrel was about 3/4" from the bottom of holster. I tried the Model 65 3" in the BC-15 the Pre Model 10 resides in and of course the barrel stuck out about 1" below the bottom but it would snap. I also tried a Model 64-5 and got the same results as the 65. So my choices are to carry the Pre Model 10 in the "C-1" & the Model 65 in the BC-15 with the barrel sticking out 1/2" OR keep buying 2 1/2" guns until I find one that fits this holster properly :) Or carry the Model 65 in the "C-1" unsnapped because it's pretty secure without snapping.

I'm going with RU added to the existing number 14 for fixed sight S&W, as with RU added to 53 for the adjustable sight K frames, so that 14RU is for Ruger DA revolvers with fixed sights. I'm adding it to the list!!! Thanks

....

If not for something like a fixed sight Ruger like the Speed Six or even the SP101 .........

I'm going to jump out on a limb and suggest the holster was made for the FBI Model 10 M&P .38 with a 2 1/2 barrel.

The model 65 won't fit deeply enough to snap because the holster is molded for a .38 Special cylinder. A .357 won't fit in my Hank Sloan.

So, run down to the corner store and pick up a 2 1/2 inch M&P.

My SP101 2.25" 357 fits nicely into a B-01-004-42. My Speed Six 2 3/4" 357 does fit the C-1 pretty well and snaps. Barrel doesn't protrude out bottom. Not made for them but fit well.

Knowing that this model from Bucheimer is 1970s with that mark, we can be confident it wasn't made for revolvers not introduced by then; and the SP101 was introduced in 1989 according to Wiki. AND -- the Bucheimer companies all were closed up by then anyway, with their marking changing early and often throughout the 1980s. Officially the companies were sold in 1983 then sold out of bankruptcy to Brauer Bros. in 1989 which then made J.M.B. models with their own maker's mark.

Bucheimer-Clark model 17 upside down holster

Our Canadian friend sent pictures of his newly acquired 1960's Bucheimer-Clark model 17 Up Side Down shoulder holster marked 12 for 2 inch M&P revolvers.

I recall catalog pictures but never knew exactly how the thing worked. Now we know the clam shell is spring hinged at the top. Our friend reports the clamping action is so strong that a K frame is difficult to pull out. A J frame is held securely but is easier to draw.

Bucheimer Model 13 - 3 inch holster

Any one know where I can get a Bucheimer Concealer left handed holster for a S&W Model 13 with a three inch barrel? Please email me at [email protected]

Also looking for original grips for the same revolver.

Model 231-34MW Enforcer

Another from Canada - A Valencia, CA Bucheimer-Clark model 231 Enforcer which is the old spring front Marshal design modified as a pancake with a thumb snap. Marked 34M for the 4 inch barrel S&W Combat Magnum and W for basketweave stamping.

I've always found the design lacking the visual appeal of the Marshal but this one is growing on me. I like the ride height and angle; it's surely fast.

Did I see that on eBay? I saw one not too long ago and thought it was not only different but good looking.

This one was not on eBay. The design is open front.

Catalog pages for comparison between the the Model 31 Marshal and the Model 231 Enforcer. The red catalog page is from 1975. I don't have a date on the blue page, but I have another ad for the 231 dated 1976.

Bucheimer also had an Enforcer model holster that must date from the 1950's with an open top and a leather enclosed spring tab on the left that is pushed aside to release the revolver. I have an catalog picture of that...somewhere.

Adding 1979 ad for both Bucheimer and Bucheimer-Clark in the same ad with the 231 labeled as the Rapid and touted as top draw, front draw or cross draw.

New to me model marked Bucheimer-Clark Valencia, which city makes it 1970s only. Not in any of B-C's catalogues that I've sighted and yet is configured with the rear fold/front welt like mid'70s B-C concealment holsters.

Perhaps evolutionary on the way to the Bucheimer Nassau police holster that has the rear fold. Our Texas and Canadian friends know more about this holster than I do.

1976 ad for the Plainsman in a cross draw version so everyone can see what we're talking about.

AMM marked Federal Man

Another one from Canada: this Federal Man for a 3 inch J frame revolver is stamped AMM-303WLH.

What does AMM mean? We don't know.

303 = 3 inch Chief Special
W = Basketweave
LH = Left Hand
The number stamped on the paddle is the thumb break patent number.
