So I got to go to a Buc-Ees. Hmmm

When the hurricane hit and ALL power was down...........YOUR "CARD" WASN'T WORTH THE PLASTIC IT WAS MADE OF.......Cash was king.........STILL IS.

For extreme times, absolutely, but in general life I like to swipe, pump, pull out, either to a parking spot for shopping or back on my way.

I will agree that Buc-Ees keep their toilets immaculate. That is quite achievement in itself.

Sum places don't take no credit cards.

We have one in our town. Buc-Ees hornswaggled the rubes on our city council into paying no city taxes for many years, claiming that all the bidness they'd bring to the city would offset the lack of taxes they'd pay. They've brought plenty of bidness alright, along with huge traffic congestion at their intersection with the freeway access road. Traffic can back up nearly a quarter mile at times on both north- and southbound access roads waiting to get through a traffic light that serves Buc-Ees' entrance drive. I avoid that area like the plague, and as a result, I have never been to Buc-Ees so I can't comment on their store. I can get fuel and decent brisket elsewhere.

We do not yet have a Buc-ees in San Antonio, at least not that I am aware of. Closest one is about 30 miles north of my house on I-35. Have stopped there a few times, not within the last 5 years. All I ever did was get fill-ups, never went inside, so I can’t comment on anything else.

But what most people havent figured out yet is that Buc-ees is for cars and pickup trucks only!! The only tractor trailers that are allowed on the property is for their deliveries only. I dont know if the have excluded RVs yet but watch out they might have. Loves is a Truck stop for Semis and cars. I have stopped and dont really care for it but they do have tons of jerky also.

Good luck for anybody that stops.

The big signs at the entrances to the parking lots are what I call "a hint."

It might just be that for the amount of space they take up in the lots, the drivers don't spend a lot of money. Plus, there is no place to take showers as there is at real truck stops.

I don't believe that they've banned RVs, since the people in those probably spend a fair amount.

The one we went to was next to I-75 in Melissa.

Please explain the arcane practice some suggest of paying cash at a gas station.:confused::confused: I thought that went out with cross-ply tires.

Where's the joy in pulling up, stick a card in the pump, pump your gas, and go?

When you can:
1) block a pump
2) go inside and wait in line
3) give the clerk some cash
4) pump gas
5) continue to block the pump while you...
6) wait in line AGAIN to get your change
7) and finally leave.
