Saw this Harley rig outside of a business in this western Phoenix suburb.
Po-Po said they have two of these undergoing eval right now.

They are far western suburbia, and it's a pain to schlep their
Beemers back and forth to the A/D for simple service/s.
Plus, the bike is out of service for far too long. The nearby Hog
shop promised them priority attention if they decide to stick with
the platform.

Nope, I didn't get any details on the carbine, LOL. :D

A bit prettier than the mid-1960s Harleys we were still using until the mid-1970s. Then we started getting Kawasaki 900 and 1000 for a few years. The old Harleys went into limited use for funeral escorts and special events, which was good because they had so much front end wobble that it was dangerous to go more than about 50mph, and even then any sudden deceleration could threaten control.

By about 1976 I was done with the motor details in city traffic. I was convinced I had been safer on patrols in Vietnam! I wanted a couple of tons of Detroit iron on 4 wheels wrapped around me.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol have several Suzuki Hayabusa's with a top speed of 217 mph! That should pacify just about any adrenaline junkie.

I have a Kawaski ZX14 and it's stupid fast. 0-100 mph in 5 secs.
I can see Oklahoma and states with long straight highways utilizing these type bikes.

I prefer old school

I was a (Single) DPD patrolman in the early '70s on a motor.
A Harley hard tail.
I refer to that time as my "Cowboy years".

I was an LEO from 1975-2007. I had a side job working security in uniform at a local shopping center. It was a pretty large operation. One of the vehicles we used was an old Harley trike. It was a blast to ride. I'm not a bike guy, but someone said it had what was called a "suicide shifter". I don't know what that is/was. The coolest feature was a siren that was powered by the momentum of the bike, so that when you pulled up, turned off the bike, and walked away, the siren would still be winding down. Very cool.
