Model 27-5 Defect?

I won this 27-5 in an online auction and while it is in really good shape, I noticed that the ejector shroud looks to be pulled away from the frame. The top strap is not canted, but it looks to me like the shroud may have been bent. The crane closes just fine and meets the locking bolt as it should. Has anyone ever come across this?

I have several that exhibit the same condition: a model 21-4, a model 29-8, a model 22-4, and a model 624. Obviously, it's a common thing. BTW, all of them shoot just fine, so it's more cosmetic than functional.

All of my SW revolvers are like that. Barrels are all nice and straight.

Welcome to the S&W Forums. The gap between the rear of the ejector rod shroud and the frame is a pretty common occurrence with S&W revolvers. It presents no issue in regards to reliability, accuracy, or durability, it is purely a cosmetic issue.

It's a tad short - otherwise when the barrel is tightened the housing would rub and mar the frame. Common to all with varying amounts of gap. Perfectly normal as mentioned above.
