Among other aspects of his background, "Prevost speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese, and can read Latin and German."
I admire people who are effectively multilingual. I always wonder how they keep all the languages straight. I always felt pretty good when I could make the French Canadians in Quebec understand my attempts at speaking French.

I watched the announcement and celebration from start to finish. One thing that really stood out was the crowd, particularly how they conducted themselves. There were tens of thousands of celebrating people packed into that space. When they left in an orderly fashion, you would be hard pressed to find an empty gum wrapper on the ground. Try that here with a much smaller crowd and it would take an army to clean out the mess, burning cars and feral mutts in handcuffs...then a year to rebuild it.

He's actually a Chicago White Sox fan. I suppose the Papacy should favor underdogs.

Bryan
I heard the Pope rules and regulations handbook allows him to be a fan of unlimited teams

It's just a title, although it's also a very "political" one when it comes down to it. Being raised as a Southern Baptist, I find "Pope worship" difficult to understand. He's a man with a lot of political power for sure,.........but he's still just a man in a very high ranking position.

I pray that he turns out to he a great leader for the Catholic faithful.
The crowd was clearly jubilant and happy but Catholics do not "worship" the pope.

Not to be argumentative, but as a Catholic I never “worshipped the pope” and no one I know did.
He is respected as our leader here on Earth and Gods representative.
He’s like the Supreme Court to Catholics.
What he says, goes as far as our faith

I just responded to the same post. There is some misunderstanding. The pope is never worshipped.

No surprise there. The Church seems to have become very anti-gun in recent decades...
I don't think there are many cardinals who are pro...Or for that matter other religious leaders in the Catholic church.

Back in the day there was a lot of corn and onion fields between Comiskey Park and Dolton, Il

Re his ancestral origins, news articles yesterday said that he has Creole ancestors from New Orleans, too.
