Wanna impress your buddies?

That truly is a bridge too far for me, or anybody else with any level of taste at all.
Not my taste at all, depends on your disposable income, and who your buddies are. In the 70, 80, and 90s, an engraved gun might be a J Frame or a 1911, but it was tastefully done and only on select parts of the gun.

Engraving and scrimshaw actually were desirable to many, the BBQ gun concept. Custom grips were personal and often with your initials.

That said, other than drug cartel guys, I am not sure where their market is. "A bridge to far" is an ample response for me too.

No accounting for taste.
While I dislike the full engraving treatment someone else will like it and their tastes are as valid as mine.

KRC guns are very, very nice. Were I in the market for a gun of their quality and price level they would be on my short list.
This one is near perfect for my taste.

The only thing I would change is the flush cut barrel.

Without the engraving, that gun sells for $6-7K. Again, the gun is unfinished, allowing the buyer to choose what finish to use.

I'm amazed at the arrogance at many of you. Rather than saying, "Not my cup of tea", it becomes "You're a moron if you buy that."

S&W has a large collection of Tiffany-engraved models. Yet every one of them sold. None of them probably got shot either. No doubt you believe they're a "waste of a perfectly good gun" too?

Why trash someone's honest opinion? If someone thinks that only a moron would by a Honda, then that is there opinion, not my cup of tea, but not within my income either. My opinion is that it is too much to be art, my art collection is rather modest.

I have some Boone and Crocket deer on my walls, I call them artwork. Everything a matter of taste.

When I zoom that one, I like it even less. Look at how the sights fail to blend with the gun, offensive look in my humble opinion.

My point it simple, you presented it for opinions, and you got some pretty contrary to being positive. You got an overwhelming negative response on gun forum. Letting people give their honest impression without trashing them would be nice.

That is a gorgeous gun, gun porn at the highest. Thank you for posting.

The photographer is very accomplished. It is hard to capture the beauty of a good, blued finish.
Edit: It could be a DLC finish, hard to tell from a photo.

While I am sure there are a few out there that would buy something like this just to display and say, "Look what I have!" I am among the greater majority that prefer function over form. I have to admit that it looks cool, especially in the pure unplated form, but a $125k price tag is way out of line anyway. After all it started out as just a plain 1911 that can be purchased for $1200 most places. I'm thinking of all the other cool firearms, ammo as well as beer that could be purchased and enjoyed rather than something to stare at. No thanks, not interested. I want something that I can hold in my hand and will shoot a 3 inch group or less at 50 yards.

While $125k is a touch out of my price range, I wouldn't mind a nice $3-4k engraved revolver. I'd take it to the range and flop it down on a piece of carpet like it was a Lorcin… I'd invite every 8 year old at the range to put a couple cylinders through it. Think of the memories created. The stories that would be told about that crazy old man with the engraved revolver passing it around like it was junk. My only regret would be that when my heirs took it to a shop to sell it when I'm gone, I won't be able to hear the wails of anguish over Dad "ruining" it.

Just another pipe dream that somehow never came to be…
