oddjob,
I have a few similar holsters laying around that I used to use when I first started carrying a gun. In fact, many years ago I had Rick from the same Company that made yours make up a few for me too.I was always a bit nervous that the gun/holster fit would loosen up in short order, and that I would find my gun on the floor. One day it happened and the gun landed in a puddle when I got out of my car. That was the last day I actually used on of these holsters. They are nostalgic and do look cool, but (IMHO) lack the safe retention quality of today's modern hand fit and boned holsters. In fact now I call them "pouch type" holsters. I am currently using a Kramer Horsehide "scabbard" holster for my model 60 along with an 1 1/4" Horsehide belt and matching ammo pouch. So far (about a year) I can say that it is the finest holster I have ever had for my Chief's Special; simple, fast and secure.
The holster on your post looks like it is a nice quality and was well made, but I would be hesitant to actually use it for more than a place to "stick the gun" while out at the range. If you do use it, I hope your luck is better than mine was.
