Default Information on the holster flap

A 1934 Beretta pistol (6.35) and holster.I assume it started out Italian then went to a German soldier and finially a U.S. GI who put his information on the holster flap.Italy/April30/1944.
His dog tag or some series of numbers are also on the flap.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Might be, but he spelled January A=P=R=I=L. Kind of odd

They were getting desperate for troops in 1944 and knowing how to spell months was not a priority ;D. Why do you think it was once owned by a German?
