So last week I received my Lobo Gunleather Enhanced Pancake with Hammer Shield in the mail. I'm not sure how long it took but I think it was around 4 weeks? I also placed an order for the Offset IWB also with hammer shield in horsehide a week or so after and that arrived in the mail today! Pretty fast turnaround for a custom leather holster if you ask me. You may be wondering why the hammer shield with an enclosed hammer model 642? I opted for the hammer shield to aid in guarding the firearm from perspiration. It also aids in re-holstering.

First Impressions: These holsters are very nice looking. The black color looks great with my S&W 642 boot grips. The stitching is very tight and well done. You can tell that Ray takes the time on each holster from the detailed boning on both.

Enhanced Pancake Fit: The leather for the enhanced is very rigid this is a cowhide leather. He places some sort of hardening agent on it because the holster does not collapse which is great for re-holstering. It almost has a Dawn dish soap smell to it. It actually clicks into place similar to kydex which is awesome. It has a WELTED-SEAM CONSTRUCTION this utilizes a third layer of leather sewn between the inner and outer holster panels fore-and-aft. This results in several "enhancements":

1. Increased strength and rigidity, permitting the highest practical ride on the belt for enhanced concealability.

2. Enhanced fit to the handgun is permitted by the welts, moving the stitch-lines closer to the outline of the handgun.

3. Enhanced comfort is provided by the tunnel-style belt attachments fore-and-aft, since only one layer of leather is beneath the belt, lying flat and smooth.

4. The outer shell of the holster is not interrupted by the traditional belt slots, which form lumps that can obstruct the cover garment as it glides over the holstered handgun.

5. Natural sight channel allows the front sight to enter and exit the holster with little or no contact with the leather.

Comes standard with a 15 degree cant but if you prefer more or less Ray can accomodate your needs.

Offset IWB Horsehide Fit: The Offset IWB with Horsehide Leather is very thin which is great for appendix carry. I'm wearing the offset now and I can hardly tell it's there. The offset belt clip minimizes bulk to increase comfort the clip is very nice it's spring tempered and grips the belt perfectly. It doesn't stick out too much like some other holsters I've had in the past. Again the stitching is tight and Ray did an excellent job on the detailed boning. The Offset IWB is a more traditional style of leather in how it flexes and moves it works out great for added comfort worn IWB. It also has a slight click when holstered but not as loud as the enhanced. It has that beautiful new leather smell. This is definitely a minimalist holster, when my wife first saw it in the mail box she thought it was a knife sheath and she was surprised that it was a holster for the J-Frame. It comes with neutral cant which allows for strong-side use, while also working well for carry at the appendix position, and functioning well for cross-draw. Can be taken on and off very quickly and easily.

Overall: These holsters are a homerun. Inexpensive, top quality, and fast turnaround times you just can't go wrong. Ray is a pleasure to deal with he is a retired LEO and has a big heart. We exchanged a few emails about our families and you can just tell he is a genuinely nice guy.

Well here are some pics...although they don't do much justice.

Lobo Gun Leather - Home

I have several Lobo's in many different styles. Enhanced Avenger, Enhanced Pancake, IWB Offset horsehide and just received my Combat Classic. They are all superb holsters but I think the Enhanced Pancake may be my favorite design.

Super fast turn around time. Very reasonable price. And the fit and finish is A+++. Wouldn't go anywhere else for a holster.

Great review GnG, those are great looking holsters and I'm sure they will serve you well.

I'll add another thumbs up for Ray's work. I've had 2 of his IWB holsters for a couple of years now and they have held up great. Ray's work is top notch and amazingly affordable.

I am in the process of putting together a new order with Lobo that will be a complete setup with gunbelt, enhanced pancake and drop pouch. It will be a month or two before I place the order but I'll do a review when it comes in

JC you might want to get on that order sooner rather than later. I'm currently in line for an offset clip IWB identical to G&G's above and Ray quoted me 7 weeks (I guess business is good?!). I've heard nothing but great things about Ray's work and with the modest prices he charges, it's easy to understand why he's so busy. Can't wait to get mine!

I think I just found my next holster, the offset belt clip.

Thanks! I think...:D

Lobo

Glad you like it and it looks very nice. MUCH nicer than what I got. I got one for my 3913 and lets just say I am VERY disapointed and looking for another holster.
Nice holster. Seems like everyone that has a Lobo loves it.
