Default New Holster

A little while back there was a thread on the best color for a concealed carry holster. Usually I make 'em black but that got me to thinkin'.
I have some left over blue dye that I used to make a belt that a client had me make to match her favorite pair of jeans and some beige thread that matched the stitchin' on my favorite pair of jeans.
I put them together and got this;

It's also the first thing off of my new leather work station.

I'd recommend what The King sang about: Blue Suede.

OMG! You ruined that gun! The dye has run all over it! Now you will have to send it back to S&W for a re-finish

Maybe it's time for you to start tapping into the ever-expanding market of ladies' shooting supplies and accessories. I see a couple of holster makers at gun shows who are doing colors, but most seem to think it's just a passing fad or just a niche market. But with gun manufacturers and gunsmiths offering custom-colored pistols and revolvers (often multi-colored), I think that market is trending upward. Something to think about.

That's a great idea snubbyfan. It deserves some investigation. I don't carry but it seems like this would work for some situations. Keep thinking.

Nice job.

I knew a foxy female drug agent that wore the finest set of Levis a feller ever saw. She had a blue leather holster for packin' her Gummint model Colt .45. It matched her britches just fine. There weren't no LEO in the State of Wyoming dumb enough to ever make a disparaging remark about that gal.
She could make that 45 sing. She din't carry no matchin' blue purse neither.

I reckon there will be a some gal that will glom onto that purty quick.

Yeah but now it matches the holster.

Thanks, I plan on posting it in my Etsy store once I get that all set up.

I have to admit, that's pretty neat looking. I really like the basketweaving and the contrast of the stitching, as well. If it were a darker blue (like, say, navy or bluish-black), I'd be tempted to ask: "How much?"

The dye I used started out as "midnight blue," I had to mix a lot of white in to get the right shade. I've still got half a bottle of the original blue left.
PM me if you're interested.

So...you wouldn't make a pink holster for a S&W Pink Lady?

Seriously, I'd bet money that some enterprising holster maker has already made...or is thinking about making...a floral carved holster with maybe a dyed dark background and pink flowers for a lady. And possibly a belt to match. Sort of a feminine barbeque rig. One maker I've seen is already making pastel Kydex stuff with flowers and butterflies and stuff airbrushed on. The bandwagon's rolling...just waitin' for someone (you, perhaps?) to jump on board. Money's money.

I was just kiddin' on the pink thing.
A line of pastel snubby holsters might be just the thing for my Etsy store.
I can't work a swivel knife but I can get some appropriate stamps.

Since I showed you guys the evidence, I can't say I haven't done it. But hated every minute of it minus the whole payment thing.

The hard part was mixin' just the right shade of blue. Then applying it in a way the had subtle variations in the finish without lookin' streaky.

No reason. Hey you could even get some bio-hazard symbols stamps and do them in red dye.

Talking Just a thought,,,

Well now I think that color definitely has it's place on a ladies hip for sure. Gotta have a matching belt though. Can ya make one for a 24 inch waist??

Sbubby,

Now that's using the old Noodle! I never thought of jeans colored leather. Might also want to dye the stitching blue so it doesn't stand out and while the basket weave design makes the holster look nice, I would imagine that a Plane Jane version would be less conspicuous if the holster peeked out.

On any Black holster that came with white stitching, I used some Black Kiwi Polish to make them blend in with the leather. When ever I have ordered custom holsters, pouches and belts, I've always specified black thread be used and made them smooth with no designs or stamping.

Just saying.........

Having the same color will help with concealment. Contrasting colors with catch the eye more. Good job.

Yes, only problem's I used up the last of the custom mixed blue.
I can mix up more but there's no way I'll be able to get a perfect match.
This just went out today;

Fits a 3" L frame.

Actually the stamping helps to break up the gloss of the final finish.
Blue thread might conceal better but wouldn't look as cool.

Cool Periwinkle Blue

It isn't all about pink.

Periwinkle blue is for stomach and esophageal cancer.

Maybe you got something here.

Mix up a batch and give me a shout.

Flesh colored, for the nudist colonies. Don't forget the naturists, naked and dangerous.
