Default (Trying to) Keep It Simple...

Back in 2013, I'd bought a holster for one of my .45s. Had found it on eBay. I really liked it, but for some reason, I sold it. A couple of weeks ago, I got to thinking about that holster and wondered if the maker was still around. He is. His name is Alan Palomba, and he's in Wylie, Texas.

I asked him if he could make me another holster just like the one I had before. He said yeah, even though he hadn't made one like it in a long time. It's an old Al Stohlman pattern.

So except for the border stamping, this is about as simple as it gets. No retention strap. No hammer thong. And a total absence of that boned-to-death look that seems to be so popular. The holster has a strong forward cant and is an open-toe design...both of which I like. If anyone's curious, the belt is by Bullhide and is 1.75-inches wide and .25-inches thick.

This is a great little holster. I may get him to make me another just like it in black.

I have been wearing the same belt as pictured for ~1 year and I can say it makes a huge difference in comfort for carrying IWB or OWB.
Excellent hunk-o-hide.
I like simple.
I like 1911's.
I like your holster.

Have to agree with the "boned-to-death" comment...........

my 1980s Sparks summer specials were and still are GTG .......vs. todays.......

Not long ago I got one for a 4" 66/19 and had to stretch it so I could draw the gun with one hand!!!!

Edit: I've had a SS for my 3" 66 since about 1988/89..... it still has just the right balance between retention and ease of draw........after 25 years.......maybe 2500 days of use (= to about 7 years of daily use)

Agreed. I have two Bullhide belts...this brown one and a black one just like it. They do an excellent job of supporting a heavy, full size 1911. The thing about these Bullhide belts...I always say if you run out of ammo, you just beat your attacker to death with the belt.

Swinging the buckle end around at high velocity would scare me off.
