Well got my new Sneaky Pete holster today for my Model 36 ! I tried an "Uncle Mike's" for the 36, but the butt of the pistol was visible from behind me, so that didn't work. ( not good in FL) I did some research and decided to try SP. It came in today. I put the 36 in and put it on my belt. It's a bit on the heavy side, but I'll see if I get accustomed to it. It really is made with some top notch quality leather and is very neat looking. Certainly too big to look like a phone, but probably can get away with saying it's a portable computer, or just tell them to mind their own business. Tomorrow, I've made arrangements to test fire a 642 w/CT laser. That really is only about 5 oz lighter than the 36 so we'll see how that feels. Obviously, I'd rather stay with my 36, so I don't have to buy a new sidearm. In addition, I think the quality in the older stuff is probably at least as good, if not better.

Not So Sneaky Petes are indeed quite large. Just tell nosey people it is a medicinal pump.

I can't see myself using one, but they apparently work for some people.

Tell them it holds your colostomy bag. That will end all interest right quick.

well went through my first day out and about with my SP - colostomy bag holder or medicinal pump ! LOL!I think those are good comebacks. Anyway, first day carrying it, I found by the end of the day, I didn't mind it at all. It isn't the smallest thing I've seen, but here in FL w/o lots of clothes, I think it works well. After the entire day, only got one look that I noticed. Any way, went to shoot at the range yesterday and tried the SW 442 to compare it to my M-36. I don't think I like the lighter feel of the airweight compared to the 36. In any case, I don't think it's worth investing $ 400 + to get a 442 while I have a perfectly good 36.

As it has SP on the outside any gun enthusiast will know what it really is.

SP on the outside

Yeh, I agree, but I'm not so worried about a gun enthusiast. The general public has really no clue. We'll see how it works out.

Too big to be a phone case. They may as well print "GUN" on it. It's like a guy with a high & tight haircut wearing a fanny pack.

Where's the problem?

I have the Dillon purple fanny pack from years ago. It is quite handy for air travel to carry all the required stuff for 2 people. It is certainly more compact than my wife's saddle bag purse.

The Sneaky Pete holds my Kimber Ultra Carry just fine. Us computer geeks need the latest gadget, but my "old style" cell phone maybe a 'conflict'. The last time my 'manhood' was called in question, I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk in the original box inside a cloth trade show bag hung over my shoulder walking down the sidewalk to a gun show -- if only those rude teenagers had know the truth. :eek:

The next time someone questions your manhood - hit them with your purple purse!

You really shouldn't give a damn of what anyone thinks, I'd carry a pink shoulder bag with a .44 in it if I needed too.

I don't know who or what company makes the "Sneaky Pete" or what it looks like, but they apparently never had an original idea in their life for the holster name. World famous holster designer and maker "Chic Gaylord" of NYC, marketed a design called the "Sneaky Pete" decades ago, back in the early 60's. May not be similar in design, I don't know, never seen a new modern one....but the name is the same. Just a fact. It was contained in his 1957 catalog.

Cheers;
Lefty
