Default Mystery vintage IWB holster, what is it?

Strange holster. It's paddle shaped kind of like a pocket holster but it has a belt tab for IWB style wear. Fits a 4 inch K Frame (pictured is a 13-2). Has a strange closure where it's not quite a thumb break--- both snaps are right above the hammer.

Looks like an Alessi, or perhaps DeSantis. Both made/make rigs similar to that one. The snap system is referred to as "pull through". You simply grasp the grip of the gun and pull it out of the holster when needed, the snap unsnaps automatically.

Look on the underside of the belt loop, you may find an Alessi stamp hidden there or elsewhere on the holster.

Default also Seventrees

Seventrees UNS Undercover Special, $20.50 and $22.50 in 1969, may be the first for the pattern - if not Gaylord. Gaylord is always a good guess for a first.

Not that the OP's holster is a Seventrees. I don't think it is.

Looks like a Lou Alessi rig to me.
Most of the Gaylord holsters I've seen had wider stitching.

Good call, I forgot Gaylord and Theodore (and then Null, too) also made that type of holster. There's so much similarity among those old New York makers' products it's hard to tell who made what from just photos online.

Maybe Lefty Lewis, when he retires, will write a book for us on the historical holster-making scene from that region (hint, hint).

Thanks guys--- Yeah, it's def not a Seventrees based on the hardware and placement in those photos though I still cannot find a maker's mark.

Anyhow "the hollow above the hip" does that mean the 1 o'clock position from the belt buckle?

Back then, it was all 4 o'clock. Then again, I never had much of a hollow above my hip.

4 o'clock that's what they were originally intended for. Had a DeSantis model for a 3" Model 36 back in the early 80s. I like the pull through snaps!
Very fast and natural to use, just grab the gun butt and pull!

We can agree it's a copy of Paris' Seventrees, but not an original.

Paris's were folded at that forward seam, not cut; and I'm not aware of Chic ever making that style. And both of them put out very rough construction with oversized nylon cord stitching. This one appears to be more contemporary in its construction methods.

I could make an educated guess as to the maker but won't :-).
