Re: Bianchi 55L Lightnin Suede Lined Leather Holster RH SZ 01 S&W J Frame 2" 13157
Re: Bianchi Pistol Pocket Inside Waistband Holster, Tan Leather #18019

Both holsters are for S&W "J" frame revolvers. Bianchi/Safariland's web site does not address either question.

1. Please identify how the Pistol Pocket Inside Waistband Holster (#18019) affixes to waistband or belt - that is, via loops or by clip?

2. Does the Model 55 #13157 allow either vertical carry or cross-draw carry - that is, holster is not ONLY a forward cant strong side holster?

Both are excellent holsters. The Pistol Pocket attaches to the belt by a large loop with a swivel attachment. If you can carry IWB, it works very well - especially around the 4:00 to 4:30 position.

The Bianchi 55 is a vertical carry holster. It is designed to be used with either an exposed hammer, or concealed hammer (Centennial or Bodyguard design). The retention strap fits behind the trigger guard and is released by your finger on the draw. I have a right hand and a left hand version I generally use when I am in the field hunting. I wear it at either the 4:00 - 4:30 position (right hand side), or the 8:00 - 8:30 position (left) on my belt, and wear my cammo overalls over that. Yeah, slow, but it is there if I need it. You might be able to cross-draw from that holster, but I sure couldn't.

Dave:

Many thanks. Both holsters will work for me.

I strongly dislike IWBs with clips. I'm always apprehensive that holster and revolver will come with my draw.

I have a Hume H715-M that is almost an excellent holster. It is an IWB holster that is vertical carry, but with a little slop in its loops that allow vertical cross-draw carry with slight cross-draw cant. It does not incorporate any revolver retaining device. Several times the revolver has dropped from the holster - prolonged bending over to rummage around the floor, and - I'm serious - having dropped my trousers to have a bowel movement. (No one ever mentions this inherent flaw of belt holsters without a revolver retaining device.)

Based on my experience with the Hume IWB, your description of the vertical orientation of the 13157 holster means that it will function nicely as cross-draw. As you probably concluded, I wear my concealment holsters as cross-draws only.

Again, Dave. Thank you for your reply.
