I just picked up a nice Model 39-2 and need a good holster for it prefer open top OWB or an IWB.

I won't be of much help but I have had success comparing the size of the older ones with more current models. Maybe the 39-2 will work just fine for a 3913. I bought a brand new El Paso Saddlery "Tom Threepersons" for my 4006. It fits just as well for my 5906. Also, it would be worth a call to the holster makers. Maybe they aren't advertising for the Md 39 but they probably have their forms etc. to do one for you. FWIW, I found two Md 39 holsters in the used bin at my LGS. One was a cool flap-type that covered the whole grip frame. Not too practical, but I like it.

The Galco Combat Master, # CM244, fits the Model 39. I know, because I have one, and it's my "goin' to the city" carry.

It's a great holster, and I highly recommend it. I didn't get a matching spare mag holder, though, I made one from a leather folding knife case.

The 39/39-2 was our issued duty gun from 1967-1981 and then the 2nd and 3rd gen S&W until 2000. Ed Rodek made a bunch of holsters for that model. Rodek Leather Works, Inc. - Holsters
What's on his webpage are examples of his most commonly requested models. If there's something you want that's not shown explain to Ed what you are looking for.
Ed's delivery times are usually about a week. You won't find a better quality product regardless of the maker. And Ed doesn't charge the high prices of other makers. Ed does it as a hobby and doesn't have the overhead.

Correct. When the business was transferred all of the patterns and forming pieces were included for just about every S&W model (full size and compact, round guard and square guard, single-stack and double-stack, 9mm, .40, .45).

During my operation of the business the S&W 39-2 saw more use in the holster shop than anything made over the past 20 years. Must be a million of them still in use.

Mark and Matt have everything needed to fill just about any need, including exceptional skills and customer service.

Ray, I knew you'd come thru and have a solution. BTW, I have a new Lobo on order for my son's birthday. I knew if anyone could make a lefty IWB for a Ruger SR40C it would be your associates.

Tex Shoemaker makes a nice 39-2 paddle holster with a belt loop to keep everything in place. It also has a hammer strap...
