The detailed Bucheimer thread includes a display advertisement for an unusual cross-draw carry/concealment holster named "semi-shoulder." It was available for small- and medium-sized handguns with thumb-break and spring security options. While it appears to be a particularly useful holster that emulates a shoulder holster without the inconvenience of a shoulder harness, I, personally, have never seen one being worn in the last 50 years.

Anyone who has used one or worn one long enough to decide whether this holster is comfortable and secure, please respond.

Is this holster, or a near copy of it, being manufactured by any mass manufacturer or buy any custom maker?

I had one, briefly, bought on this forum I believe. It was a snug fit for my 642 and I liked the concept a lot. Unfortunately, the belt loops were too narrow for my daily wear 1 3/8 inch belt and I passed it on. The belt slots weren't easily modifiable.

Edit: This thread made me curious enough to go inspect my holster drawer and it was still there! It is a Bucheimer B1024. I just called a local leatherworker who says she can modify the loops. I'll drop it off this afternoon and post a photo and field test when complete.

I wore them off and on for short barreled K-frame and J-frame S&Ws. I liked them a lot.
I found them easier to conceal because the only part of the holster below the belt line was part of the belt piece. Great for a short jacket or sweater or sweatshirt. The holster puts the butt of the gun farther up towards the armpit and prevents it from canting out away from the body and "printing" against the outer garment. Also easier to press your upper arm against the whole shebang to protect the gun when moving thru a crowd or in close quarters with others. And, as said, easy to just remove the gun and holster and then slide it back on when you go out again.
I've still got one or two around here somewhere.

In my twenty-four years (ending in 1984) I never heard of one of these. The design looks interesting and if it holds the weapon as described it seems it would sell today.
I favor a Yaqui worn at that location right now and "back then" a Yaqui at
three or four O'clock. They always held my S&W Model 39 snuggly against
my bod (So didn't tear up my coat lining like the hammer spur on revolvers did.
No one producing them these days? Maybe someone should?

At least three major manufacturers offered this class of holster. So far everyone believes them to be as useful and practical as I thought. Nevertheless, they're gone while a bazillion nearly identical "conventional" holsters remain in production. Doesn't seem sensible to me.

The one I have also needed extensive work to get it to properly fit my belt. I like it when driving. As was said nice to be able to remove the gun and holster without undoing your belt. I would like to find one for a 3 1/2 N frame.

Heiser & Bucheimer made them in the 1950's & '60's & S&W made them up into the '70's. Although I own several I've never worn one, the fact that major makers offered them for years indicate they found some favor among users.

I am fairly certain I would wear that floral model.

Sure wish I could find one of those S&W 24 types to try with my 640 or Mdl 10. Seems like they would be great travel rigs for either J or K ccws.
