Well, I can tell you how many I saw at Tulsa- none.
I have no idea how much you paid but you didn’t pay too much.

Does this Reyes Floral Stamped Holster and Patrick Grashorn smooth Elk Horn grips bring this 5" early post war S&W M&P up to BBQ status?

Those stocks are by Keith Brown. They are really quite stunning in the light.
I am almost surprised that nobody has guessed the maker of the leather, or what the gun is (hint - it is a pre-war N frame)

That Myres looks to be made for an adjustable sight model, or are my eyes deceiving me? It is a very nice example of their work.

My, my. You don't realize just how rare yours is. That it's a Rabensburg (late Brill) is obvious; but did you realize that the open muzzle is not standard on either era? And is that a hole for the mag button? I'd genuinely like to know. Not standard either.

Red,
I like the open toe design. There is a relief cut for the magazine release button, it is tapered from the top (direction of insertion).

Larry,
You are correct on the holster maker. Good eye!
Do you recognize the Nickel N frame peeking out of it?

I don't have fancy holsters, as they are more "go" than "show." While normally I'd carry this glitzy 66-2 snubby concealed, I might just wear it openly for a barbecue! The El Paso Saddlery holster might offer a plain contrast with the gun itself.
It crossed my mind that this Luger with its 1936-dated matching holster might draw some admiration because of it being quite unusual for a barbecue!

John,
Sometimes plain Jane fits the bill
And I bet a lot of younger folks wouldn't begin to know what the Luger is. You might parlay that into - buy me a drink & I'll tell you about the Luger
And it's really quite funny that you show your 66 with a day planner - I have used a tooled brown day planner to carry a variety of guns over the years. Sorry, I have never photographed it, so nothing to see here.
Here is another plain Jane one that I like. It is an early Model 58 with a Smith & Wesson holster (IIRC).

Are the grips Grashorn's?
No, they are Sambar Stag with most of the bark removed. I bought them at the Smith & Wesson Symposium in Tucson back in 2010. They have no maker's mark.

I had this one designed by WyattBurp a forum friend. It is for a left-hand cross-draw for a 1911. I haven't got any pictures of the gun yet that I will be carrying on the farm.

My holsters all do double duty, everyday and fancy. I have not looked for originals but have looked at originals. I like the Brill style and have had several made.
Here is my favorite, paired with a M22-4 with smooth stag stocks.

I have been told that there are No places where men wear fancy holsters and carry fancy pistols and revolvers just to show them off while they socialize over a BBQ meal but I did attend one of these functions about 10 years ago in north west Maine. There sure were a number of fancy guns and holsters. Lots of fun shooting and great BBQ. I brought several guns and there are others here on this forum that were there.

You are correct sir. That is Dave's creation. It is one of my favorites

A recent purchase from Tulsa featuring a double buscadero rig from Heiser would be right at home at a BBQ. The rig features a pair of #753 holsters and a completely lace wrapped #49 belt. This was the fanciest and most expensive rig you could purchase from the Heiser catalogue. Bill

Knife: Browning Black Label dagger, made in China but good quality, with "tactical" sheath and metal handle, made circa 2013, discontinued.
Gun: S&W model 66, .357 mag., made circa 1977, pinned and recessed, with target trigger and old-school S&W grips. Sadly, I have no decent holster for it, just a cheap $15.00 nylon one. My sister took my good brown basket-weave holster -- sisters will do that. She took my Model 15 along with the holster. You gotta watch sisters every second...they'll rob you blind...

Went looking for this thread and finally found it. It's lost a bunch of pictures over time but there is still some good ones.
Thought there might be some newer members that have not seen it.
I'll add a picture for the thread and keep it going.

Thank you bama biker for pulling this thread back up again. Lots of
beautiful guns and leather to admire. As Yogi said "it's like deja vous
all over again."

My BBQ gun is a "Wilsonized" Colt Combat Elite bought in 1987. Had used it a lot and Wilson updated it...had Turnbull blue the slide and Wilson replaced what needed replacing.
Elk grip panels from Eagle.
Holster is from TT Gunleather. Tim Thurner does great work.
