.45 Shield Holster
I just bought a .45 shield and was wanting a local leather guy to make my holster. He has blue guns for 9mm and .40 Shield to use for his holster making. Will they work for the .45 or is it enough different that the holster fit might not be just right? I don't want to give up my gun for a week or so if I don't have to. Here is a link to the maker I will be using.

The differences are in length and thickness. I have the 9 and the .45, and not all of the holsters for the 9 will take the bigger gun. Might as well let him have it for a few days....

Thanks for the reply. After he did some asking around he said he needed the gun for proper fit. I am on his list, meanwhile I am using a holster that does the job but is really to thin.

This is the way to do it. If you are going to have a custom holster made, you want it to fit like a custom, not "off the rack."

I picked up my new holster last night and I am very happy with it. It is fairly snug and the gun will not shake out of it upside down. It is not a speed draw for sure, but will loosen up with use I am sure. It is very comfortable to wear so I am happy I did good on the first try. It was made for my .45 Shield and as I mentioned it is quite snug, but I also have a 9mm Shield and it fits with some slack, not loose but easy to tell their is a difference and a 9mm holster would not be a perfect fit for the .45.
