I have tried about a buzillion OWB holsters for the little Centennial 642
shown here. My favorite is the PWL (Price Western Leather) shown with
the gun on the Milt Sparks gunbelt. It is their model #320 which is an
adaptation of Chic Gaylord's combat speed scabbard. Very light, very
fast, and good retention.
Lower left IWB is a Garrity "Inconspicuous". Lower right is one of
Lou Alessi's "Hard Shell Talons".
If you like a higher ride, the Black Hills lizard trim on the lizard belt,
2nd from left, is a good one. The Black Hills shark on the shark belt,
3rd from left, is also a good high ride.
Or perhaps this, 4th from left, gator by TJ on a gator belt.

Take a look at Lobo Gun Leathers. I picked up an enhanced pancake for my 640 PRO and it works well.

Haven't carried it much yet but it pulls in tight and fits the handgun nicely. Very good craftsmanship.

I have a new 442 on the way & I wound up ordering a Galco Stinger.
The reason I chose that one was I like to carry cross draw a lot. It's just more comfortable for me especially while driving. I own a couple Galco pancake holsters for 1911's and like them. But for concealed carry I mostly use my Kirkpatrick Texas cross draw with my commander.
I'll give a review of the Stinger when I get it.

I use the Lobo Gun Leather Original Pancake holster.
It has good retention and reasonable pricing.
My pocket holster is a Bob Mika. I like the holster, but my pockets are so large that it tends to lay in the bottom sideways. I need to make my own, I guess. Other models do the same!

Best,
Rick

I bought one when they first came out. I looked at holsters for a while and settled on the Galco Fletch holster. Never warmed up to the gun and sold it to a friend who wanted it worse than I did. I did like the holster and kept it. I use it occasionally for my 940. Its a little bit large for the 38 size frame 940 as it was made for the 357 size J frame 640 pro, but its a great holster if you want a thumb break and don't want to wait for a custom holster maker to hand make one.

I'll 2nd the fletch holster too. I had one for my SP101 and liked it a lot. But both are long gone now, traded for an old 3 screw BH.

This is why most of us have a box of holsters in the bottom of the closet -- next to the box of different grips we have tried. What are my wife and kids going to do with this stuff when I'm gone? Including the box of sights, springs, and screws.

It's all good -- there are lots of very good choices for the J Frame. All revolver-versus-semi arguments aside as to reliability, round count, etc., nothing carries easier than a J frame.

+1 for the enhanced pancake. It's been my daily carry holster for ~2 years now. Holds magnum and regular J frames equally well. Order it for the 2.125" barrel and it will do just fine with the 1.875" barrels too.

I have also found that it works with my 3" 31-1 and 4" 35 no dash - the barrels protrude a bit, but the front sights are not too tall or wide to interfere with the draw. There are, of course, better options for the longer barrel guns (including an enhanced pancake made for 'em) but in a pinch the short barrel version would do.

My new 640-1 that I picked up yesterday will mostly be a pocket carry in a Mika, but I do have a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake that it will fit in if I do decide to carry it on my belt!

thanks for all the comments I'm going to do some research and see which one is best for me I haven't heard of many of these holsters

This is almost a Ford vs Chevy question, but I run El Paso Saddlery and a Mika (on order) for pocket carry with my 640. Both special order for the 2 1/8" barrel.

I have several J frame holsters..... 642 with SW Bananas in a Galco SM122, my 640 no dash is in my most used holster a Front Line hybrid paddle, a pair of Bucheimer (favorites) can use them cross draw or strong side, a horse hide pocket holster and a kydex IWB. The last 2 I do not use any longer and will sell in the near future.

I'm a J-Hound, I like they can all share stocks and holsters, of which I have boxes full of ones that don't work for me. These are some of my favorites for the 640-1, and yes I have a Pro, just forgot to get it out for the shoot.

The most versatile for me is the Lobo SL-1, it's comfortable from 3:00 back, and it's easy on and off.
The Lobo Enhanced only really works for me in one spot on my small frame, kinda a pain to get it on with a heavy belt, but I forget it's there, unless I'm driving.

The Simply Rugged is just a solid traditional pancake, rides tight and will work IWB with the loops attached.

Simply rugged Silver Dollar, Lobo Enhanced Pancake, Lobo SL-1. I strung them on a belt so you could see the cants.

I also like the Lobo Original Pancake, this is for my 66, but you get the idea.

Since they were out, here's some 640's and a NY reload. The silverback is my new Centerfire Internet Special.

Disregard my post on the Galco Stinger and it being a cross draw holster. I ordered the wrong damn holster. I wanted the hornet model.

What is that holster called? Or do you have part numbers.

I have an old S&W holster in that style that needs replacing.

Use the search function to find Bucheimer-Clark fit chart.
Scroll down and you will see a couple of holsters. The
Marshal Model 31 or perhaps the Combat model.

You will be able to zero in on the correct size for your gun.

Then you will have to find one, maybe on the auction sites,
because Bucheimer has been out of business a long time.
