Looking to get a sticky holster for my pocket carry lcp 2 (i know not a smith) Has anyone tried the one w/ the kydex insert or am I better off with just the sleeve?
Also, does anyone make a pocket holster that is notched out for the rear sight so I can put my thumb on top of the gun for easier draw if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance

I have used a variety of pocket holsters or a variety of small guns, leather, Kydex, whatever (I am totally unclear what your Kydex insert is unless you mean leather with a Kydex insert - waste of time I'm thinking).

I think you need a Mika's if you are worried about putting your thumb on your gun for the draw.

The gun should NEVER come out with the holster. If the holster doesn't stay in place without your having to get fancy it's useless. Sticky, or with pocket protrusions, whatever it takes to ensure the holster stays in place.

You do NOT want to have to think about where you are putting your thumb in a panic draw. So, to my way of thinking, no, what you are saying doesn't sound like a particularly good plan.

sticky came out with a kydex insert into a sticky sleeve, wasn't confident it would work either at least for pocket carry.
The holster that comes with the gun sucks, everything comes out including my pocket.
Thank you for the input, I will need decide between the sticky(no kydex) and mika

I have a Sticky for my Gen 2 LCP (as opposed to the LCP II) and while it stays put when I pull the gun out, I prefer the little pocket holster Ruger provided w/the gun. The Ruger holster is thinner than the Sticky and takes up less space in my pocket while also staying put when the gun is drawn. I leave the Sticky in the car's center console so I have an option when I ankle carry my .380.

Not a Sticky Holster fan. Wife has one for a Beretta Pico; rear sights always snag, to the point it becomes a safety issue. Sheriff's Deputy friend went to a call involving a Sticky Holster that became through wear, not so sticky. Pistol fell into some poor guy's crotch. Wound up catching a round in the femoral artery. I am not a fan of IWB or pocket carry, but if necessary, I use a leather pocket holster from Andrews or Ritchie Bros. Leather. Fairly priced and built to last for generations

Check out Mika's pocket holsters. You can't find a negative review.

Actually, I have a Mika pocket holster. I replaced it with a DeSantis Nemesis. The Nemesis is thinner, stickier, stays in place better, is lighter and has a "hook" silhouette that, with practice, catches the holster when the gun is drawn. It works better in different pants pockets, too.

I have a IWB sticky holster for my 22 Compact with Micro Tac laser. It is a temporary solution while waiting for my custom Kydex to be made. I have only had it for two days. It has no Kydex. It works pretty much as advertised. The holster sticks but the gun does not..

It's been a long time since I carried a J frame in an ankle holster, but it was a whole lot easier--and faster--to get the gun out than the pocket holsters I've tried.

As much as I admire J frames, I don't think it's a J frame world out there any more. More of a belt-fed world in some places...

You gotta quit wearing those "skinny jeans"! ;)

I use a Remora for my LCP Gen 2 and it works fine. I usually just drop it into my pocket when I'm walking my dog in my neighborhood.

Pocket Full of Protection

Think about it. How often do you leave your house without at least four pockets? In winter, at least six? Why not make use of at least one?

What I REALLY like about pocket-carry is that if need be, I can casually slip my hand in my pocket and get a full combat grip on my handgun without anyone around me even knowing I'm armed. No display, no threat, no provocation, no "he was reaching for his gun" on my part. From there we're talking lightning fast presentation.

For example, walking back to the car across a parking lot, at night, the Mrs on my left side, holding hands (yes we still hold hands:)), my right hand, guess where? Sure, I look like an unaware old-guy walking with his hand in his pocket. ;) Never underestimate the power of the element of surprise.

I regularly use Remora, Desantis, and Mika, all reasonably priced and do the job. Happy Shopping.

P.S. Just because I carry a pocket-rocket doesn't mean I'm not also carrying elsewhere. ;)
