Actually it is a mod 57 which is the 29 in 41 rem magnum. Looking for the best concealable holster for this hoss.

Concealable shoulder holsters that won't have you walking like a hunchback? Don't exist. Best way to carry one is in a bandolier style, for hunting, but lousy for concealment. Spring holsters for the long barrel seem like a good idea but sheer weight is your enemy. Horizontal -- well, not an option in that barrel length even on Carol Doda.

Wear it in a crossdraw belt holster, such as the Bianchi Cyclone or the Galco copy, and you'll be very happy. And comfortable. And concealed :-).

Remember that Clint Eastwood didn't really have to work, day in and day out, with that monster in an underarm shoulder holster. Actor, you know :-). No holster with jacket on, holster with jacket off, and then just long enough for the camera shot.

I have a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster for my Model 29 8 3/8" barrel that is reasonably comfortable, but I've never carried it for extended periods.
It actually can be concealed with a long enough coat or chamois shirt but the sheer weight will wear you out after a couple of hours of hauling it around.

I've worn a Bianchi X15 with a 6" Model 57 (which is what you have) for hours on end while hunting, with no problem. For days and days. So it can be done.

If you get a X15, look for a vintage one on the large auction site. They will have off-white, yellowish colored stitching, not dark brown. Dark brown are of newer manufacture, and not as good as the older ones. The leather is more supple on the older ones, and the dark brown stitching can scratch your gun.

You can buy new harnesses (the part that has the elastic strap and the leather portion that goes over your carry side shoulder) for about $35.00 or so if the elastic looks beat up on the one you get, which is common. They are old, remember.

There are usually several on there all the time, so you can wait a couple of days until you spot one in good condition.

One last thing: they are designed so that you pull your gun up and out, not straight through the metal hoop. You can do so, but it is hard on your gun's finish and much easier to just pull upward and out.

Give it a try. Only then will you know if you can stick it out or not. No offense, but it can be done and only you can decide whether it is for you or not, no one else.

I have a 8 3/8" Model 57 I carry in a X15 while hunting, and a couple of 6" Model 29s I carry at times in another X15, my original one from 1980. No problem, although the 8 3/8" is pretty long!

Red makes some great points................ hunting with the X-15 can work/ I've done it with a 6" 686..... but under a sports coat or jacket..... not so much.

A nice 3" k-frame 65 or 66 is about as large as I go for EDC revolver...... and it's in a Sparks Summer Special IWB holster.

I have Bianchi X15s for a 6 1/2 in. M29 and a Colt .45 ACP.
I have A E Nelson Untouchables for a 6 in. M19 and a 4 in. M29.
I have carried all 4 for days at a time with no problem but I like the A E Nelson Untouchable holsters the best. Larry

rednichols pretty much said everything that needs to be said on this topic. Truly comfortable and concealable shoulder holsters for the large-frame revolvers are just not closely connected with reality.

One of the better production shoulder holsters for your 6" Model 57 is the Bianchi X15 series (for your revolver you need the size Large, 6"-6-1/2"). That will serve pretty well for field or hunting use, and not bad for occasional concealed carry use (assuming appropriate outer garment). Comfort can become an issue if you are driving, getting in and out of a vehicle frequently, or carrying for long period of time. Also, the X15 utilized an elastic strap for the off-shoulder, and those wear out over time with some difficulty in finding good replacements.

X15's show up with some frequency on eBay and other sites. Suggest you try one at decent "used holster" price before you proceed with an expensive new purchase that may not live up to your expectations.

The X-15 is universal, meant for semi-autos or revolvers. The X-2000 was for semi-autos and the X-2100 was for revolvers. The originals did not have safety straps or thumb snaps to secure the firearm.
