Indeed the exposed leather strip stitched to the inside of the paddle, is better for retention in the pants waistband, than covering it with another layer of leather.

I have the same holster in black. It came with a mid 70’s Chiefs Special. Nice unit!

There are a few Maverick holsters on ebay. Not to be confused with
a Maverick model by DeSantis.

Finally dug it out - as mentioned, it was part of a package deal a couple of years ago on an M37 from about 1975.

Ha! I'll have to check that. As mentioned, it came with a J snubby so I assumed it fit that but admit I never put a gun in it (I'm normally pocket carrying).

The MP 2 marked on the backside should refer to a 2" Military & Police (Model 10) revolver.

Remember Anderson Leather well from 1970's
I was a cadet, reserve, then a CETA deputy at the Madison County Police Department around mid 1970's. The department's office/jail, as well as Maverick Leather, was in Anderson, IN. As I recall, Maverick Leather was just off 8th street, next to some railroad tracks. The guy's name was Perry. He was black, and had one eye I believe. He made fantastic holsters. I still have a couple. I loved the suede (?) lined versions. I remember stopping in mostly in the evenings, and it was dimly lit, and smelled like leather and solvents - in a good way. Seeing this thread has brought back good memories of those days from long ago.

I got this Maverick several years ago in a trade with Tom (aka -db-).
Very good little paddle holster, and well made. My J Frame has a
concealed hammer, so I show it with the Charter Undercover. If the
hammer is concealed, the "dog ear" is just another ingenious solution
to a non-existent problem.
I am not 100% certain, but I think mine might be one and the
same as the one posted by Tom up in #1.

A bit of additional information: The gentleman, who operated Maverick
Leather Goods in Anderson, Indiana, was Perry Balungraph. I found him
in the National Minority Business Directory, so that kind of confirms what
STB said in his post.

I Love These Treads! I have grown really fond of the leather holsters you gentlemen dig out of your collections or unknown hiding places and the history that follows about a time when things weren't mass produced but rather tooled by hand. Keep them coming please!
