.... except, "Tell me a good gun for a woman's SD in a purse.

Some useful info/questions:
Is she comfortable with a semi or a revolver? In Smith and Wesson...You have the .380 Bodyguard and 9mm Shield. All self defense rounds don't have to be 'hot' loads'.
The .380 is smaller but the kick is about equal to a 9mm. If weight is an issue, then .380. If not, the Shield is light and very shootable. I know that a LOT of ladies like the Shield.
If she feels more comfortable with a revolver and size/weight is an issue, the 'J' frames are hard to beat.
Whether it's chambered for .38 or .357 magnum, either will shoot standard .38 defense loads.
If she can shoot tougher loads, there is +P ammo, which is somewhat more powerful than standard ammo. Or there is 'boutique' ammo like Buffalo Bore that is MAX powerful.
It's doesn't matter how big the caliber or power of the ammo if you can't control it effectively.
She can only figure all of this out by trying different ammo and guns. Training, practice and familiarity are essential to anybody wanting to carry a gun.
PS: There are tons of videos that show women's carry options.
Dena Adams says that 'purses are for lipstick', pointing out that the purse is often grabbed.
