WOULD ELMER APPROVE?
I was wondering if Elmer Keith would like this outfit.
The Keith style holster is by Henry Cassaday dba HC Leather.
The ranger style belt is by our David Keith.
The knife is a Solingen blade, the grip from a pick handle by Phil.
The sheath is from Big Sky.
The Open Road is by Stetson.
Elmer would probably like the New Model Super Blackhawk .44
Magnum by Ruger.
I'm pretty sure he would like the book by our two Gurus,
John Witty and Red Nichols.
What do ya'all think?

I think Elmer would approve. He might prefer a larger hat. He wore those big western hats. That knife handle looks interesting. Some sort of grippy material?

Yep, it's almost like sandpaper.

President LBJ wore a Stetson just like that one. Lots of old " gentleman " ranchers here in Texas did back in the day.

Henry Cassady's holsters are as good as any, and better than many of this style that have more famous maker's marks - and cost a lot more. I think I have three, but here are a couple.

I have several of HC Leather's holsters and they are oustanding and very fairly priced. I wish he would offer a few more options though. For example right now on ebay he has a plain holster, lined for a 3" J frame. I'll bet he would have a ready market for the same but in 4" and basketweave stamped for all the Model 34 and 63 Kit Guns out there.

The holster is his design for Lawrence, he wouldn't like the SBH cause it doesn't have the square backed trigger guard! The knife, probably, although he preferred wider blades.

Yep he would have. Only now it would need to be for a S&W 500 with a 12'" barrel.

Excellent photo. All it's missing for Elmer is a stogie!

I haven't smoked a stogie since I was 35. That's when I quit
smoking. 48 years ago.

I received my HC Leather holster in the mail yesterday. It is for my 5” model 27 but doesn’t have the retaining strap with snap. Mine has the rawhide thong that goes over the hammer. I asked about basketweaving but he doesn’t stamp anymore. Very well made holster and tight fit. Hopefully, it will loosen up a bit in time.

Here's my CH holster I've had for several years with a 5" 27-2. Was thinking of ordering another one, sorry to hear he is not doing basketweave any longer.
