I ordered a new HKS speed loader pouch. I bought it on sale from midway USA. It's black, like my holster. That's why I got. I been using a brown leather speed loader case I got from Kirkpatrick leather years ago.

From a distance, the HKS looks like leather. It's made out of something called hytrel. Feels like rubber, very light weight. Paired with civil defense fragmented hollow points and moon clips. This weighs next to nothing.

It is much smaller than my other two speed loader pouches. As you can see in my pictures.
The HKS is on the far left, Kirkpatrick is center and frontier leather works far right.

The one problem I have with my other two speed loader pouches is everytime I wear them is they pop open if I bump into something.
The HKS springs open. Wide open that is.
I can't help but to think what would happen if I tripped over and the HKS pop open and my spare bullets fall out.

I'm going to wear it for the next few months and post another review.

I hope that they work out for you. I carried the HKS speed loaders in the HKS case (they were leather back then) with perfect results and no unintended snap openings as an LEO. I'm sure your new version will work out well for you.

My perspective is from concealed carry, so if that doesn't apply, feel free to ignore.

Have you considered a split-six type pouch? The pouch wraps around the belt with the speedloader sitting on top of the belt, 3 rounds outside and 3 rounds inside, and then snaps over the top. I believe Simply Rugged makes a good one for the HKS speedloader. If concealment is a concern, they do conceal better than the pouches that stick out from the belt. FYI, I have heard of some people using split-six pouches in uniform. I don't like them for Safariland loaders since the loader rides on the belt on the release mechanism. All it takes is for some downward pressure and they could release their rounds. This isn't a problem with HKS loaders.

My favorite pouch, though, is the JOX pouch. It's a kydex pouch that rides above the belt and there are no snaps or flaps. The loaders are held in place by a combination of a little lip and spring tension from the kydex. They're very secure but release easily. I have a couple for Safariland Comp I loaders but I'm pretty sure they make them for HKS. They're a little pricey, but I think they're worth the price.

Here's a picture of mine (I think they made some design changes since I got these, BTW):

Yeah, this is conceal carry and open carry. I do everything wearing my gun. From walking my dog to buying groceries. I used to wear my gun belt from frontier leather works until I lost so much weight I almost can't fit it anymore.

I used the HKS speedloader carriers when I carried a revolver, never had one pop open unintentionally. The spring action of flap is actually nice. When you pop it open, it stays open, so you cannot mistakenly fumble with the flap of an empty cell when trying to feel for the loaded cell.

Congratulations!!!

By the way, a hole punch, awl, or even a nail can help. I wear the River style belt and that require I restitch the billet when needed.

Kevin

Its kinda like a western style belt. I can't punch another notch in it. I thought about sending it back to FLW. But I decided not to.

Those fragmentors seem like a wicked little load. Pure nastiness when used against the bad guys.

If the snaps are coming undone take them into a shop and have them replaced - perhaps the ones it has are of inferior quality. I have some of these new HKS carriers you're describing and they snap very securely.
