I want to pair my 4506 up with a Miami Classic and I just assumed Galco was still making them. A check of their site however proved otherwise. Is anyone else making this rig for the 4506?

Thank you

Kramer makes a horizontal shoulder rig that’s similar to the Miami Classic. The don’t list the 4506, but they probably have the mould to make one. Worst case, they’ll need your gun.

They retail for about $300, but that’s what several used Miami Classic rigs for the 645/4506 have sold for recently at auction. Blame Don Johnson! Lead time is around 11 weeks and I think they offer an LEO discount.

I will say that you’ll never forget you’re wearing the gun, when you strap on a Miami Classic with a loaded 4506 and two loaded mags. It definitely weighs on the shoulders and neck and you’ll be very cautious around large bodies of water!

Genuine Galco holsters specifically for the 645 and 4506 come up on eBay from time to time. Otherwise, the 645 and 4506 will fit nicely in most holsters designed for the Beretta 92.

Yes, a fully loaded 645/4506 plus two loaded magazines is a very heavy load across the shoulders. The overall length of the 645/4506 also makes it a challenge to conceal. It pretty much dictates angling the holster in a butt down, muzzle up configuration. Even though I am barrel chested, it does not work well for me. My vintage Galco rig is for display purposes, not practical applications.

The Classic Lite is not in the same league as the original. The Classic Lite series uses non-molded (boned) suede type leather for mag pouches and holsters.

I found this one on ebay a few months ago. Cost: $100.00

I'm a weight lifter and a retired cop. I have a large upper body and I was used to lugging around forty pounds of gear, so I don't find the 4506 burdensome, or hard to conceal under a sport coat or loose button front shirt. I've worn it all day long and on road trips without issue. On the other hand, it is on the upper end of what just about anyone would find doable for concealment. Only you can decide that for yourself. On the other hand, it's simply cool. So, if that's the motivation by all means, rock on. Also: a shoulder rig for a Beretta 92 will not fit the 4506. Belt holsters yes, but the 4506 is longer in the rear of the slide so the thumb break won't close.

It took me two years of on and off searching on ebay to locate it, so patience is the key.

Pick up the phone and call Galco.

I have found them to be extremly accomadating over the past several decades

Just because something is not on the website does not mean they are not being made, nor does it mean they will not make you one even of it is no longer in the catalog.

Depends upon the shoulder holster. I have a Bianchi Scorpion for the Beretta 92 and my S&W 645 fits perfect. The Scorpion was even marked as fitting both.

Which is why I would never carry a weapon that size in that type of holster. Your're literally asking for the weapon to fall out if the snap comes lose. I've seen it more then once.

A weapon that size is best served by the vertical style shoulder holster, a la the classic Bianchi X15. Galco came out with a vertical holster/double mag pouch system some time ago just for this demand.

Back in the 1990s I got a Miami Vice holster for my 645 and just for fun I got an extra holster for my 1076 10mm. I found that putting on the extra holster and pistol in place of the off side clip holding rig I had a heavy but very balanced rig. I did wear this New York Reload rig for hours at a time just to say i could. Not a very concealable rig but it workd with a winter jacket.

I have to respectfully disagree. I carry my Colt 1911 plus two magazines in a Galco Miami Classic II all day, every day for about five months during the cold weather here. I never have a problem. I think the design is made for long time wear with heavy gear. It works ok for me.

I suspect comfort depends greatly upon one's morphology and tolerance for carrying weight on their shoulders. I will say that of the shoulder holster designs I have tried, the Galco was the most comfortable.

The Classic II has wider straps across the shoulder, not as wide as the original Jackass design, but about midway between the thin Miami Classic and the Jackass versions. The slightly wider straps will surely distribute weight better than the narrow straps.

My first CPL pistol was a 4506 in a Miami Classic. It worked well until summertime, but spring fall and winter was ok. I still break it out on occasion when I am feeling Crockett-y... if I could just find a shootable Bren Ten and a Daytona.
