Holster rehab
I just put together a 657 snubby with stag stocks and a Tyler T-grip and needed a holster for it. I knew I had picked up something in the past that may fit it(probably from a fellow forum member). I dug through my bin of holsters and found this Safariland N-frame snubby holster. I wanted something darker and it had a stain on it anyway, so I applied several coats of leather dye, then polished it with some Kiwi. I’m still working on it. In the light, there’s still a couple of lighter spots that I still need to darken and I’d like to get a little glossier appearance, but I think it turned out ok...and the price was right!

I didn’t read through the whole original post and though you had traded the old stained brown for a new black! Seriously, that looks like a new rig. GREAT JOB!

Looks like a 1970s vintage Safariland model 28 with elk lining. The tan is difficult to keep from staining from oil etc. I tend to write it off as character. Safarilnd and Bianchi today pale in comparison to those years when their holsters were first class leather and construction made in USA. Nice job of dying black.

You did very well
I have dyed a couple in the past. I got best results by leaving both the holster and dye in the sun a few hours before applying the solution.

A great job so far. A couple more coats of stain should even it out. I remember a trick of using a different color as a “primer” but do not remember the details.

For that glossy shine you want, pick up some Fiebings Tan kote at Tandy.
Just wipe it on and let it dry, for a nice glossy shine.

I actually have some of that. I’ll give it a try.
