High Power Holsters
On this and other forums, the introduction of Springfield Armory's SA-35, has caused quite a stir. A few lucky people have now gotten the paws on some, so I thought it might be fun to have a thread for High Power holsters, both old and new.
My own examples are a couple of cheapies with my C-series: A Triple K thumb-break and a reproduction of a German-pattern WW2 flapper.
I think that this particular style of flap holster is among the best. The strap comes up from the bottom, so anything like brush trying to open the holster has to work in two directions. While not as fast as the iconic U.S. 1911's holster, it is way more secure and still reasonably quick. Designed to be worn on the left-side, it is accessible to either hand and from just about any position, such as in a vehicle, etc. It contains a spare magazine, for 26 rounds total in a tidy package on the belt. A couple of companies have imported these. If you get one, check the back of the snap: if uncovered, it WILL scratch the pistol.
The BHP always struck me as a classic pistol. I'm sure some of you have some nicer holsters. Let's see 'em!

How about one for the Austrian Gendarmerie contract High Powers from the 1950's ? It's one stout hard shell holster for sure. What I have never been able to figure out though is how they carried the spare magazine. The guns came with two matching numbered mags so I would expect to see a single mag pouch of similar color and construction but have never encountered one.

Thinking about a Bang Bang Gun Leather .....Rhodesian.
He made me another OWB holster several years ago.... which works well at the range.
That said I rarely carry cocked and locked.

My daily carry is this enhanced BHP riding in this Red Nichols holster. The holster will also hold a 1911 with the same comfort, efficiency, and style.

Oh, dear, now I have to go take some pictures........
Okay, I took some pictures. Sadly, I am not sure what I did with my several El Paso Saddlery holsters for the BHP; I know I have 3 somewhere!
Anyway, these two holsters are set up for the BHP:
This one has the S&W logo at the base on the reverse and is also marked 22 24 W. I have no clue what that all means but the BHP fits perfectly:
This next one is a Bianchi Ranger series No. 5B:
Also a perfect BHP fit:
I've had these and the missing EPS holsters a very long time; they were stored outside so they survived my 2018 fire but, somehow, I have misplaced the several EPS holsters. Oh, well....

I've never owned a HP, but I have a holster for one. Used Bianchi I got for $10 at the LGS.

I'm still waiting on mine, prepaid on 10/30. So far I have 2 extra mags from Springfield and I'm going to be ordering a holster from Palmetto Leatherworks. Have one for my Ronin Commander and it's great.

I finally broke down and tried a kydex. Works pretty well. For under $30 I’d say it’s well worth it.

I have Browning HP leather holster that I ordered when I bought my HP in 1972. It is made in Mexico and is hard enough I believe you could drive nails with it. Basket weave with retaining strap.
I haven't used it much over the years.
BTW Plastic holsters are meant for plastic guns. REAL metal guns deserve leather.

Well, HA! I remembered where my other holsters were hiding.
KNJ nylon multi-gun holster. The velcro straps make it easy to vary from gun to gun. I set it up for my BHP long ago.
This generic, olive drab number probably was intended for a Model 92 Beretta but the BHP drops in cleanly.
El Paso Saddlery "High Slide"
El Paso Saddlery Combat Express
Ace case - nylon - IWB

How do you like the ElPaso Saddlery Combat Express? I’m on a wait list for the SA-35.

I'm on the same wait list. I need an SA-35 like a hole in my head but I cannot resist.
When I bought the EPS holsters I was planning to carry the BHP. However, that actually never happened. Nonetheless, those two EPS holsters are really not right for my current manner of dress. They might be okay for open carry, or under a suit coat, but I'm not doing that and it's almost a certainty that the barrel would protrude and be visible under almost everything that I wear as an outer garment these days except a winter coat or a long vest - and guess how often I wear a long/heavy winter coat in Dallas, Texas?
Okay, under the longer vests they would work, I admit it.

Those appear to be some of the finest, attractive, leather rigs I've ever seen.

I tend to collect magazines and holsters for all of my pistols. Also tastes and method of carry have evolved over the years. First is a post war Browning and a post war holster marked A. Kind Hunstig. These came from the estate of a retired USAF Colonel (EOD) friend who spent a great deal of time working with German SF/EOD personnel. I believe this came back with him on one of his deployments. Next a Novak BHP in .40 S&W with a Milt Sparks Road Runner holster. A Novak customized 9mm BHP in a new Desantis Speed Holster that I am still trying to break in. Another 9mm Novak BHP with a Milt Sparks Summer Special and Blade-Techs version of same. I used to carry inside the waistband exclusively but for some reason the waistbands of all of my pants have shrunk lately, maybe I need to wash them in cold water. A 9mm Novak BHP in a Don Hume JIT Slide.

An older Safariland paddle holster and finally a Blade-Tech Kydex range/class holster. And just because you need options, A Galco Miami Classic.

I carried a HI Power for nearly a decade IWB, mostly in this Wild Bills Concealment Covert Carry holster. It’s a tuckable design and at times that mattered.
