******* big game shoulder holster

Back in 1981or 82 I bought two ******* big game holsters for my 57 and 29's one for a 6" and one for a 8 3/8 barrels what I would like to know was when did Galco buy them out? I liked them so well that I sold a Lawman Leather Dirty Harry holster that took me about 2 months to get, they seem to me the best shoulder rigs around. Jeff

1980

The name change from ******* to Galco was about 1980.
Only the name changed.
Richard Gallagher was and remained the owner.

Then known as The Famous ******* Leather Company, the name took its inspiration from Rick's stubborn adherence to the highest standards of quality. *******, as it was commonly called, was originally a custom leather shop and showroom displaying every imaginable leather product. From sheepskin jackets to handbags, sandals to hats, and wallets to horsehide holsters, everything was made on site.

In 1980 the name of the company was changed to Galco International, LTD. In 1983 the company moved from Chicago to its present home in Phoenix,

Fun factoid: In the 60's, Gallagher played in a rock band in Chicago.

I agree, they're great rigs, they're high quality and well built.
I have one for one of my daily carries for the winter and love it. They are, however, not one of the "best" rigs around. Maybe for the money, but they're are a lot of really, really high end rigs available if you wanna spend the money.

How much do you wanna spend? lol
Mitch Rossen is a better built, higher end rig, I have one of those too, but pricey. Andrews Leather comes to mind, but can be even more spendy. Jump on line and do a search and you'll find a plethora of bespoke rigs if you have the money.
