Last fall at a Reno gunshow, found and purchased two holsters, actually wife found one. The first is a Eubanks Leather, basket weave and leather laced. The numbers on the back are 89C HSK 6 3/4, Boise, Idaho.
The second is marked Eubanks Pioneer Leather, numbers on back 89 R 6. It is a plain holster, Boise, Idaho. Neither look like a gun has rode in them. I would like to know what pistols/revolvers they were designed. I forgot I had them until this evening when I was putting away a holster in the shoe rack that acquired thanks to another member and his post. Is there a chart for the Idaho Leather, Eubanks-Pioneer, Eubanks holster designations?

Well, I went and got a High Standard Military HD and it fit the holster perfectly. A Ruger Wrangler did fit the holster with an "R", but the strap is way short. I will have to find something else. These could become expensive holsters if a guy has to buy guns to fit them.

I laughed at your “expensive holster” comment.

I picked up a really well made modern Kramer holster cheap. It’s so well made I just have to use it, but it’s going to cost me the price of a revolver in the end.

There is a gun show nearby this weekend. I feel like bringing a suitcase full of guns so I can buy some nice holsters for guns rather than buying guns for nice holsters.

If I remember correctly, the Eubanks Pioneer holster will be newer than the just Eubanks one. I think the changeover from Eubanks to Eubanks Pioneer happened in the '50s. I like some Eubanks holsters, and they can be had rather reasonably compared to the big 3.

boykinlp, you must buy crazyphil's book "Renowned Gun Leather". Page 30 has the history of the Eubanks, Eubanks-Pioneer, and the Idaho Leather holstes. Of course, I have the probably only autographed copy. Since I have talked with Phil and got his book I am overloaded in holsters. Which, of course has led to an increase pistol and revolver collection to fit the holsters. All crazyphil's fault.
I got a Ruger MkII and it sort of fit the R marked holster, but not quite right.

I'm really sorry I'm such a bad influence on you. I kinda broke the
addiction and had a massive sell off. I'm down to just 5 holster per
gun, but I still find myself surfing the bay & looking at the leather.
I hate to tell you, but I believe when you are hooked, there's no way
out.

With all those guns & holsters, you really need to have your wife help
you learn how to post pictures. It all starts with the camera. I have
always used a Samsung WB35F. It was around a hundred bucks when
I got it. After you get a camera and start taking pictures, I will tell you
step by step how to post them if you want. No host necessary. No cost.

I have had my autographed copy of Phil's book for a while now! It is probably where I read the Eubanks information. It is definitely a great reference guide. Collecting beautiful vintage leather holsters has been an enjoyment of mine. It is getting more and more difficult to find "deals" though!

I was cleaning off an old chair of my mother's that had been cluttered from years of just dumping stuff on it. Well, I found a 1977 holster chart for Idaho Leather Holster codes. I think it is probably the same for the Eubanks, and Eubanks-Pioneer Leather.

I had already narrowed down my Eubanks Leather HSK as fitting my High Standard Military HD. The exact listing is not on the chart, but close enough. The second from Eubanks-Pioneer marked 89 R 6 is for a Ruger Blackhawk 30-41-44-45 six inch. I just sold a Ruger Blackhawk last year, but not the right one for this holster. Gun show coming up soon.

I am "assuming" that the later 1977 chart is about the same as the original Eubanks, and Eubanks-Pioneer Leather to be "close enough". The 89 number on the holster has to be for the style, such as basket weave and laced. I have had several Idaho Leather holsters custom made, and I think they all have the "89" number on them for the style. I miss Mr. Wetzel, as for sure I would now have ordered another half dozen of his holsters for the grand kids by now.

On the left is a Model 87 by Eubanks,
2nd from left is by Eubanks Pioneer Leather, also Model 87.
3rd from left by Idaho Leather Co. Fpr some reason the
Idaho Leather holster is Model 77.
On the left is marked K88 and a 4 shown with Model 10 4"
Center is marked HS which would be some kind of High Standard,
but it is shown with my 2" Model 10.
3rd is marked Model 77 and 38 44 and is shown with my 4" N Model 29.
4th is another Idaho Leather marked 77 shown with my 2" Charter Undercover.
5th is a Model 820 Eubanks with 7.5" Colt SAA replica.

Hey Kevin in O,
Apologies for getting into an old thread, but since you apparently found The Golden Fleece, aka Idaho Leather Holster Chart, (congrats BTW!), any chance you would do me the favor of looking-up what a Eubanks 89 L is for? Currently have brain fog and can't think of what the L would be, unless Luger ...? Trying to find a holster for a Colt Woodsman Match Target, 4 1/2 (yes, I know ... forgive me it not being a Model 41!!!), and this one looks like it might fit, even tho the model letters aren't correct for a Match Target, apparently. Appreciate any help.

Mike of Pocatello

My chart is Idaho Leather Holster Codes 1977. The styles are not listed, just the codes. The code for the Colt Woodsman Match Target Model is "MTW". I think the "L" you are referring to means "laced", and 89 is the style.

I just got a Eubanks Pioneer marked 89 R 6, and a Eubanks marked 89 C HSK, it being laced and stamped, the former plain. Neither are on the chart, but the HSK fits my HiStandard Military HD, the other I don't know for sure. Hope this helps some or confuses you more.

Igiveup: see here now I just happen to have a Ruger 6" Blackhawk in /45 Colt and could put that holster to good use. Think of the money and time I could save you if you would just ship it my way. 'ell, I'll even pay the shipping charge. Be a good lad there and send It on it's way, my way. :D :D :D

Holster bonanza at Michigan Antique Arms Collecyor show

I landed 5 holsters at the MAAC show this past weekend. I’ll need a couple of posts to show all the photos. Bill The first photo is a Bernd Martin belt that matched my Betnd Martin Speed holster for a 3 1/2” Pre 27. The second photo is a Heiser 738 for a 5” M frame. The last photo is a Heiser 752 also a 6” K frame .

SG-688, thanks for posting the catalog. That is the same chart I have, but as soon as we go buy more paper for the printer I will copy the whole catalog. As a side note, I don't see the #89 style listed, although it is stamped on both the Eubanks Pioneer and the Eubanks holsters.
